Was 2003 with Nick Saban. Interestingly enough, they also won the NC that year.

Kelly’s 2025 class that currently sits at #1 is going to pay off big in the future. Not to mention, the 2026 class in Louisiana is insane.

Regardless of what happens this year, the foundation is being built for an incredible run over the next few years.

I was thinking the same. The 2009 class was #1 on some if not all services.

The services vary, but Les did have 2 consensus #2 classes.

I’m going by lsusports.net stats.

And only cherry-picking Rivals?

The '09 year is at least #1 in two places...

We could absolutely land the #1 class but we're not currently ranked there on any of the recruiting services. FYI

For the record I wouldn't switch commits with any of the schools allegedly ahead of us.

#2 and I think a #4 was his best, but one those classes had 6 safeties although they were ranked like 1, 3, 5, & 9 in the country. But NO OTs and one OG.

So kind of like Brian Kelly with millions of OTs and OGs but only 1 DT?

Also, Les did have a #1 class in 2009 according to ESPN.

Not sure lsu holds onto the #1 slot but unless the wheels come off it’s hard to see the tigers not being a consensus top 3. NIL has just changed things with more last minute flips.
Hold on to Underwood, Moore and Berry and it’s an incredible foundation. Those 3 are elite

No no the rantards are telling me we’ll never win another game because we didn’t pay a subpar DT 1.5 million. Because you know we need DT’s…….

Yep. And nobody could say that stretch had anything to do with Saban. Hell, if Saban was still in the NFL, we might have won 2 NCs during that time.

LSU went 8-4, 10-2, 11-1, 10-2, 9-3 during 5 years after that class. Without Saban it would have been 9-3, 10-2, 12-0, 11-1, 10-2.

That 2010 team lost 2 games by 7 and 8 points. One was to undefeated Cam Newton Auburn, and the other was to 10-2 Arkansas who lost to eventual 12-1 Ohio St in the Sugar Bowl, to finish 10-3.

2011 only lost to Bama the 2nd time.

2012 only lost to Bama because of a BS call and on the road by 8 to an eventual 11-2 Florida team.

2013 lost on the road to UGA by 3 in a back and forth crazy game, on the 3 by 3 to Ole Miss because Mett was giving gifts left and right, and got stomped by Bama

Once LSU gets its defense back in shape, you're going to see one of those UGA/Bama runs for LSU.

Nope, nothing like that. Kelly had to rebuild an awful OL and now it's being rated by most publications as the best in the country. The two tackles are being considered 2 of the top 10 best and both likely first rounders. A loaded OL allows you to run any kind of scheme on offense and make it work. A loaded safety room allows you to be flexible, but it's nowhere near the same. And we're talking multiple positions on the OL here, not one position like the DT position.

Yeah he's definitely had problems with the DT position, but you could develop a serviceable interior with what we currently have when McKinley comes in, in 2 years with Bo Davis. The DE, edge, and LB play will do the work of getting to the QB. Have you seen the guys we're getting at LB? Have you seen the DE and Edge guys we are getting?

Yeah this is the only one that I can remember. ‘03 class was badass. Not sure if they were #1. Came close in ‘11 and ‘14 too

If we really are able to retain Moore with the OL recruits we are getting. That offense will be wild in 2026.

None of that will happen in 2024. We’re fricked defensively. Also, everything else is useless moving forward into the future if we don’t secure some more quality DTs. That’s the foundation of your defense.

Also, you still haven’t proven that there’s no parallels between Les Miles and Brian Kelly with recruiting. The only difference is that it’s affecting different position groups.

You have got to be the biggest negative Nancy on this site.

Should be LSU and UGA battling it out over the top class

Well using ESPN’s rankings is your first problem, they don’t cover, evaluate, watch tape, or go to games. They spend a week on HS recruiting, they’re in it for ratings on the show. On3 is becoming the standard, the work these guys put in is tremendous. Especially the LSU guys- Shea, Billy E & Matt B (they’re honest and non bias) though Shea is all LSU but still is grounded in reality. In other words ESPN is a joke with its HS recruiting.
