I don’t know much about recruiting but I just read an article about the cornerback from Toledo the eagles just drafted and Nick Saban was quoted as saying “ He was our No. 1 guy in the portal last year to try to get him to come out of the portal,” Saban said, “and he would never get in the portal.”

I guess this could be its own thread but I don’t really make threads bc I don’t know where they belong and stuff.

Regardless, isn’t this a direct admission of tampering by Bama? The article is about this kid turning down big NIL deals to stay at Toledo. I don’t get how this is allowed. Especially when kids can get paid now.

tampering doesn't exist in the modern era, so quit complaining. Especially if Little Nicky was involved...

“He was our No. 1 guy in the portal last year to try to get him to come out of the portal,” Saban said, “and he would never get in the portal.”

Now, I know why little Nicky retired. He has Alzheimer's. His quote makes 0 sense. First, he says he was their target IN the portal and to try to get him to transfer to Alabama. Next he says, the player would NEVER GET In the portal. I don't know if the Toledo guy went in the portal or not since little Nicky contradicts himself. But yeah, IF that player never entered the portal that is 100% tampering. You are not supposed to contact any player who is still at the school and hasn't officially entered the transfer portal.

I just found another article that says he never entered the portal.

LINK

Edit: ok judging by google ( I don’t have a twitter) this seems to be a trending topic that people picked up on. We all know nothing will come of it, but it’s interesting he slipped up. Smaller schools should be pursing some type of action to keep their star players.

That clears up whether the player entered the portal or not....he didn't, thus little Nicky clearly tampered which is a violation. Great catch BTW...I watched a lot of the draft and saw Nicky comment on the guy but missed the contradiction of his statements.

Maybe that is why little Nicky wasn't present on day 3 of the draft...might have admitted to other cheating such as, "well we were able to keep {name the player} at Alabama that extra year because his family was well compensated by the university. I hear mom has really been enjoying her new car."

Texas' big problem with it's football program is that it's boosters run the show.
However they will see a recruiting uptick due to being in the SEC. The program that is a monster at this time is UGA. They never have to leave their state to have a top 3 class every year, and Kirby loves to recruit.

Agree with you about Georgia's recruiting. I do have my doubts about Georgia consistently winning the big game. First, let's visit the first recent NC against Alabama...full credit to Georgia. However, on the 2nd, Ohio State easily could have won the semi-final game and then they played for a NC a team IMO that shouldn't have been in the playoff. TCU lucked out in at least 2 Big 12 games that season and thus should have had 2 losses. Blowing out an overrated TCU team not impressive to me.

On the flip side, how many times has Georgia lost to Alabama. Little Nicky has owned Smart except for one game. And 2 years ago, LSU gave away the game to Georgia in the SEC CG. First, the blocked FG which I give Georgia credit for should not have resulted in 7 points the other way. If Polian had coached the LSU special teams properly, they wouldn't have stood around like dummies instead of ignoring a live ball. Then, if I remember right, LSU fumbled inside the Georgia 5 yard line. That is easily 17 points swing (3+7+7) right there and LSU lost by 20...a score skewed by circumstances caused by the above.
