First time I've ever seen an incoming FR hit the portal.

We are in strange times indeed.

Didn't Michael Daugherty do this the past season?

I think I've seen players ask out of their LOI, but I just don't remember hitting the portal as a FR. Maybe it happens. It's just bizarre.

Yes. LSU has had a TE whose name is escaping me (Schaffer maybe) and an offensive tackle all leave before week 1 in the past few years.

People are just noticing it more now because he's "entering the portal" instead of "no longer on the roster."

apparently this is about wanting to see the field early

He better transfer back home to northwestern state if that's the case. He isn't playing anywhere early above the FCS level.

Spring ball must’ve been eye opening for him in terms of where he stacked up with his competition if true.

Outside of a lower level school I can’t imagine a team starting him this season so still seems odd not to just let it ride for a season and develop under on of the best Oline coaches in the nation, even if you transfer in a year

All rice, no gumbo.

(I don’t really know what that means. But it sounded good)

They must've took one look at this guy during spring and said he's not going to make it. That or he didn't like it here. This is kinda amazing how this era people just up and leave without being on campus a few months.

Or the kid took a look at who he was competing with and another team then got in his ear.

Davis also has another elite class lined up.

I know the te from miss left. He was Walter nolan's cousin I believe.

Zack schaffer I thought left after a year or two

The huge OL from West Virginia going back home during the summer opened a spot for a 2 Star WR out of St. Rose to sign late in the class

I saw this guy in person a few months ago.
Just does not pass the eye test.
No way he is 6-4 300 lbs.
. Looks much smaller.

Exactly. He wasn't the last minute o line commit, that was Echols. When they took the commit from Cryer they had no idea they were getting Echols, they both were supposed to be at C, the way it worked out in the spring was it was Echols who was repping at #2 C and Cryer was at #3 G. Echols took his spot. Now look at next year's IOL class, Cryer never would've played here

Didn’t his dad play at LSU? Great family, but not sure he would have broken into the lineup. He will likely have a better oppurtunity to play at NSU or Mcneese. Best of luck to him in the future and he will always be a tiger.

Not even sure Brad Davis is good enough to tell after 4 months and 10 practices if someone won’t ever be good enough to play at LSU. If I had to guess he saw his competition and didn’t want to wait a couple of years. Plus I think he was playing guard in the spring and is a center? Maybe he was mad about that.
