Anyone have any intel on the big DT?

I thought for sure he’d be a portal candidate and a massive target for LSU.

If Maason Smith turns pro, LSU will have two scholarship DTs on the roster during spring (unless Shon Washington enrolls midterm) … Not going to be a whole lot of full contact practicing going on.

I have no idea but I don't see how they don't take at least one tackle maybe two as things sit.

Let’s see, because he’s not SEC caliber. But you clowns can say we need depth. If you want trash can depth go be an Aggie fan.

I would expect that Maason is very excited about coaching changes on the defense and it's favorable impact on his 2025 draft potential.

Sherman Wilson been posting these cryptic tweets. It was DaShawn Womack the other day and Maason yesterday. Think he is coming back

Also Wisey I dont think Jenkins is an LSU level DT but i guess could be a desperation throw.

He was the best player on Tulane's defense every time I watched. He dominated the OM OL. I am not saying he is Glenn Dorsey but I also think he showed way more last season than any DT we had on the team.

Based on what? If you dont think hes strongly considering going pro you are wrong.

he fact that he got pushed around for the vast majority of the season.

I'm sure he is considering it but it would be a bad decision to go pro. Maybe he is Al Woods and he figures it out in the pros but he could come back and actually play well and get drafted much higher than he would this year if he even gets drafted at all.

i agree it would be a bad decision but hes definitely considering making the jump. Plenty of kids have made similar and short-sighted decisions in the past.

Jacobian Guillory

Maason Smith

Thats interesting. I swear I watched about 4 or 5 Tulane games and every time I saw Jenkins in the backfield a ton and he made his fair share of plays as well. I wonder if he is just a boom or bust DT like Nkimdiche was at Ole Miss? Gets up field a ton but either makes the play or runs completely out of it.

I also wonder if it was that thing a brain does that when you know something you are more likely to see it. Like when you go car shopping and all of a sudden you see the caryou test drove all over the place on the road.

If you watched their opener vs South Alabama, that definitely was the high point of his season. He had 2 sacks & a few pressures.

Then going into GM2 vs Ole Miss he was being talked about a lot, and was disruptive in that game as well.

To his credit he played a ton of snaps. But I’m not sure how well he’d do playing in the sec

Well, not sure it calls for that, I see such a decision being misguided.

I need a body, LE

Even if Maason returns, your spring DT roster consists of Smith, Guillory, Lee and Shon Washington (if he’s an early enrollee).

I don’t think you can do any full contact practicing with that limited of numbers.
