Meh, if you feel like you’re one guy away from a title, do it. It’s not like the NFL where you mortgage future cap constraints. If you got the cash and feel like that one guy is the difference, pay him.

See: Cam Newton at Auburn.

With or without DT's, I don't feel this is a championship team, the defense has too much ground to make up, not saying it won't be improved , and I don't see the offense being quite as explosive as last year, we lost 3 first rounder's.,

If you know you have a future star player in the NFL then it helps with the brand to have another player

We have no clue what this team will look like in the fall. Nobody anticipated a full on fricking explosion on offense this time last year.

I personally think we're going to impose our will with the OL and run the ball heavily while eating clock. Mix in some short YAC throws and a few throws down the field. This at least gives our defense minimal time on the field and I think that overall style of play makes us very dangerous.

Seems the going rate reported is 5-8 hundred grand for "top end" DTs. None of them are worth that on its face but we don't really know the parameters of the market so maybe it's fair. The dilemma is, are any of them worth it? Would you spend 500 grand for an experienced vet who may help you win now or upwards of a mil over time to a hs kid that does nothing but practice and lift weights before transferring because he never sees the field? It's the system we are in now so if we want to compete then we have to "overspend". Otherwise there is no sense in playing or expecting success at the level we strive for.

Spend now on Barrow or Williams and lose Stewart cause we can't match a team.

Two sided coin.

Ole Miss is spending like they know their chance is this year.

If LSU knows it has an offense 80% as effective as last years, and the defense can improve from 112th to around 50th by adding two game changers, that can put us in the playoffs.

And no one knows what happens in the playoffs.

Folks inside the program are saying the office is identical to last years and no renovations have been made. So, we should be at 100% my man!

You gotta spend money to make money

You don’t spend the money and teams rag doll your dline all year long and it’s a repeat of last season

Lane is going all in on OLE MISS this season. He is putting all the chips on the table. Their defensive line is going to be scary good Nolen, Umanmielen, and Baron plus recruits. When they spent the bucks to get Nolen from TAM it was a statement that they were serious about their run for the title. I would love to see Tigers take a win over them, but I see this as one of our toughest games. I know on paper the Rebels looks awesome, but does it transfer to the field? We will have to wait and see.

Although he did an interview with Shannon Sharpe recently and said all of that was false and was started by Dan Mullen and his wife,

Let’s say it were true and he did get the rumored 100-150k.

There’s no one in the portal as good as cam and most of the guys in it will never play in the nfl let alone be mvp.

Are these guys that’s 4/5 year sr’s that’ll never play in the nfl worth 500-800k?

frick outta here

I just want to win a 1st game of the season for a change. Hopefully replacing three1st rounders on offense won’t be too big of an issue to overcome.

Kelly should have done something besides wait until the end of the season with our dysfunctional defense, but he didn’t. We hope we now have all the right coaches in place and we have to trust their eval when purchasing a couple of d-linemen for the upcoming season.

Two quality defensive tackles could be the difference in us making the playoffs or not. It's well worth it to spend based on payouts for the playoffs.

Well as a season ticket holder I have to disagree. I don't demand perfection but I do expect you to put out a competitive team for the price I'm paying for tickets taf and parking. If getting this piece makes this team competitive and a legit shot at playoffs, you owe it to the fans to do your best to put the best team possible on the field. The whole it's not your money to spend to get player is right, but it is my money as well as everyone else's in that stadium that allows for you to pay for the people who make those decisions.

I don't think BK feels this way. Despite what he might say I think he knows this defense is going to have lots of growing pains this year. There's nobody in the portal that will immediately make this defense "good". You still have pretty much the same guys on defense as last year minus an All-American DL and a 2nd round pick DL with a lot more inexperience sprinkled in. The defense is not going to be good but maybe coaching can overcome some deficiencies from last year.

I believe he's banking on coaching this year to help defense since he probably felt it was a major issue last year cleaning house. If they can't get anyone in portal then the money just gets shifted to what's probably going to be an amazing class. I understand what he's doing here and it's his team. I don't fully agree with it especially when you have someone like Perkins on your defense but what can you do?

Paul Skenes, Don’t know if LSU paid for him but he would be worth it.
