Good post.
I agree with it all.
The only small caveat is that we are not working with a salary cap. "overspending" is theoretical. You are only overspending if whatever high roller Ole Miss has runs out of $$$ or some OU oil well stop pumping. If you have a crazy donor who says "go get 'em" - there is no overspending b/c they will pony up for the next $1.5M above average DT - it is the market.

The death of college football. Isn’t the whole reason to follow the team because they share your love for the university? Perhaps they’re from Louisiana, or felt strongly enough about your school’s program to change alliances. They play on the school’s football team. You have a connection with them, which is what made college football so great. Its greatness attracted TV contracts. This money has killed it. But it has been allowed to happen by not having minor leagues in football. Anyway, we’re all just watching the death of the sport at this point.

Good post. If/when we drastically overpay for a player, then that guy needs to be special. We should not pay the $$ the recent Dline transfers got. Too disruptive to the locker room. Pay Stewart next year, but not these guys. Also, take your best shot on guys in the fall portal. The spring portal is upside down with teams acting desperate with their money.

Should Tiger Dropping's baws be running a covert psyops on OU and Miami via social media asking other established players in the program if they are getting $1.5M like a guy who has never played a down there and was above average in the Big 12?
Maybe not with OU and Miami, but if UT or Bama do it and it gets in the press ... yes.

Yep. Both of those schools are good candidates for some good ole fashioned tampering. Behind the scenes, of course.
