It’s a DT from Grand Valley State.

Apparently Shea said there is a new name emerging that we’re going after.

If he's talking about the 280 pound DT from ULM or the kid from Texas who has 1 tackle (in 2022) in his career, we're not in a good spot.

Hopefully there's someone hiding in the weeds we don't know about.

Kimo - converted OL
Guillory - good hole plugger
Lee - little production at UF
Breaux - True FR 260 pounds
Washington - JUCO
Johnson - True FR
Hickey - walk-on
August - walk-on
McKinley True FR 270 pounds
Paez - little production at Wisconsin

This ain't a "just coach em up" in one fall camp kind of group. Not that there won't be good players in that group.

You have no idea. There are 3 freshman coming in that could be immediate impact players. McKinley could absolutely be a difference maker from day one. That kid was SEC ready last year.

The sky is falling bullshite after missing out on guys that weren't' stand outs at their current schools is asinine. Almost as asinine as throwing a million fricking dollars at a kid that was average at his previous school.

Anybody that says this is insane. He’s 273 Lbs right now. Do you expect him to gain 50 Lb’s in a few months?

There is 100% no good DTs that are hiding in the weeds.

They all came out and got paid already.

He could easily put on 20. We don't know anything right now but do you think this staff AND the Michigan staff got outbid by Indiana?

Maason Smith was 292 pounds of muscle and an all-world DT prospect and still struggled to make a consistent impact as a true freshman when he played DT.

260 and 270 pound DT's with zero experience get swallowed up in the SEC. Breaux was the only one who even went through spring practices.

Again, not that they won't be good players in a few years, but you can't count on kids that aren't even on campus yet.

Smith managed to not make much of an impact at all which is my point. He came in as a "can't miss" and never lived up the hype. How can you possibly think guys that weren't stand outs at TCU, Kent St, Michigan St, etc., will come in and be impact players? No one can anything definitive right now. We have bodies on the roster. There is no way in fricking hell we should be shelling out half a mil for any of these types of guys.

He announced he was down to six yesterday and LSU wasn’t one of the schools.

They will likely slide Shand and Jones inside in situations too. Don't forget that. But yeah, they need at least DTs from portal.

Smith was a true freshman.

CJ West SR
Simeon Barrow SR
Damonic Williams JR

There is no substitute for experience and 2-3 years in a college strength and conditioning program.

There's a bunch of connections there, so who knows what'll happen...

Also, people need to give Preston Hickey more of a chance. Word out of spring ball was he was playing well. Big boy too - listed at 300 on LSU website, but coulda swore I saw him listed at 320 somewhere.
