Unfortunately this is the case, we pay but not anywhere near what the others are paying.
I know for a fact, that the kid from OGHS has been offered 650k for one year. That was Ole Miss, When his brother was committed to Texas A and M the package deal was 1.5 million.
When Petrino and Jimbo were let go, that's when His father pushed for Ole Piss, the dad is good friends with Pete Golding, they played CFB together at Delta St.
Drew still tells me he wants to play for UGA but Ole Miss is probably gonna get him in the end. I was joking with the dad yesterday at our son's practice yesterday, saying how cool it would be for him to be at Lsu and getting to see Drew smash AJ. From what I'm hearing AJ is gonna be the backup over Howard. I will have to wait and see about that.
He/Dad does have a meeting setup to speak with Austin Thomas this weekend.
The Oatis kid from hattiesburg high is a big Lsu fan and Bo dropped in to see him as well, but in the end they will go to probably the highest bidder and that's currently the Tx schools, the rebels, and surprisingly Fla st.
Take all this with a grain of salt, he might be fricking with me, ya never know.

The other thing shite like this does is create a snowball effect and create an even larger problem. You don't think guys on the roster see this going on and thinking "Wait, this one year rental at DT just got $1.5 million and he's a good player at best. I'm in my second year here, where's my reward for loyalty?"

I get the depth sucks, but if you digging that hole at a position like that, you're going to be digging your own grave at some point

Is Kelly spending his money? If LSU is now all of a sudden not spending then they will get left behind in a cloud of dust.

Maybe he is saying we spend our money on coaches who are best able to tune your skills to play pro ball. So you can learn from the best in hopes of earning more money in the pros instead of not learning and being unable to make as much. Teaching you how to fish instead of buying you fish now. This was likely the philosophy when we emptied our pockets for coaches salaries . Pay coaches or pay players.

Lsu is into the buisness of buying players just like every other school make no mistake but... Lsu also isn't going to be the highest bidder for players they feel aren't worth that number.

let's see if OSU, Bama, Ole Miss, OU, Miami, FSU, Oregon etc. have horrible seasons because their locker rooms were all in turmoil over the transfer guys and their paychecks.

Why wait. Tell us how it worked for A&M?

You can stand on your morals with this if you want. But when the other schools you're competing for a title with are doing it, you better have a plan in place for how you're gonna close that talent gap to keep up.

Do you think the DL guys we just missed on would bring a title?

And it looks like we didn't account for that at all.

Did we pony up for Perkins? Underwood? It is clear we are being selective on when to pay big.

Then there isn’t anything that can be done about it and you should stop worrying about it.

Hmmm….we are buying players with NIL, but I think he’s saying that he’s being selective, cause I can only imaging what Underwood’s NIL offer was..

Seriously.

You don't get the #1 QB and #1 overall player in the country, who resides 1,000 miles away from your school, without offering a substantial NIL package that is just as good if not even slightly better than his other top offers. It was most likely many millions of dollars.

So we are absolutely buying players....because we have to. BK will never get his championship if he doesn't play the NIL game (and at a very high level).

Our NIL collective and recruiting capital may just be allocated more heavily into HS recruits as opposed to transfers. I don't know what the deal is with us missing out on these transfers, but we could just be prioritizing our resources on high school players.

I guess we’re going to be left behind then and go back to 1990s LSU football pretty soon if we won’t match the NIL deals that other schools are giving.

You get with the program or you get your asses kicked.

Commenting and worrying are two different things twinkle toes. I don’t give 2 shits either way. It’s not my money so I don’t care if they pay each player 100 million. On the flip side if LSU doesn’t get in the money game and they fall by the way side then I can find other stuff to occupy my time.

I am allowed to point out that there was a January portal that all 16 sec teams were allowed to participate in.

Overton and Nolen went to our rivals that took the opportunity. We did not.

Keep that same respect when we're getting our butts handed to us on the DL against Bama in November.

I would rather lose doing the right thing than win doing the wrong thing. However, I don't expect you to understand that. Your character development could use some work.
