So this things is moving and getting into food in pantries and even on the counters at times. I have several sticky traps down and can't find to catch this little b*stard. My wife (No pics) is about to move out at this point. Any suggestions ?

Can we get some pics of your wife? Might have a place for her.

Get rid of the sticky trap. Get one of the zap traps by Viktor from Lowes. Put some peanut butter in the trap.

Fail proof and a clean way to get rid of them. You're welcome.

Old school traps (wooden base with spring-loaded bar) are the way to go.

I tried those newer ones that trap them inside and they never fell for it.

Put some peanut butter on two of the old school traps and killed two of those bastards in one night. Haven’t had a problem since.

Yes, secure your soap. They'll come for that soon.

I've had good luck with basic Victor traps and peanut butter. The problem is that you'll just keep catching rats. Get a cat and the rats will stop coming into the house.

Sticky traps

Made the mistake of using these once. Don’t run the Roomba. Terrible mess and almost ruined the Roomba too.

The old fashioned break a mouse's back snap traps are still the best. A little peanut butter bait and put it near the food they're getting after.

Preferably a Siberian. I had one and it was the most ferocious hunter I’ve seen.

My lazy fat brown tabby I currently have would probably run from the rat.

Get a real trap and place it along the baseboards and under the sink

Figure out where they are coming in and out and plug the hole.

Use peanut butter as bait, don’t use cheese

The Viktor zap traps are painless, messless and you can keep using them forever.

Yeah. You don’t ever really get a RAT. You get RATS. PLURAL.

They breed at an insane rate.

Had a problem years ago when we didn’t have cats for a while,

Had a case of those MREs from the 2016 flood up in the attic. Forgot about them.

Then started hearing the skittering and the scratching. Put out poison, traps, bait, the whole nine yards. Finally had pest control come out for the problem. They went up in the attic and found that box in a forgotten space…they’d eaten an entire case of MREs and nested in it. The smell…ugh.

Have cats now. No mice or rats.

My cat has thumbs, polydactyl. I like to think he picks them up by the neck and chokes them to death.

Throw a couple water moccasins in the attic.

I have a small dog and worry about the spring loaded traps or poison. The wife won't have a cat, and the dog wouldn't be very happy either.
