English laurel is insanely easy to grow. It grow quick and is hearty down here. It’s also fairly easy to propagate. I can’t think of any cons other than size, but where you’re using it, it’s perfect

I've got a Cherry Laurel hedge in North Arkansas. Only con is it grows so fast I trim it twice a year. It keeps light out of our bedroom really well. It also smells great when it blooms.

Cherry Laurel is native, provides benefits to wildlife in addition to being super easy to grow.
