Check around with some HVAC companies if you want a one-stop shop since most of them offer full installation. Another option if you want a specific brand is to buy the genset directly and pay an installer to do the rest.

For brand choice, I'd suggest Generac since they are the most common and pretty much anyone can work on them. I had my heart set on Briggs and Stratton back when I installed mine and ended up going Generac. The upside is the commonality of parts and any company can service it. I keep oil, spark plugs, and an extra stepper motor on-hand if needed. Otherwise, she's good to go and runs just fine.

Very good price. Mine was around $12-13k back in 2021 but we had to run 100 feet of flex gas piping through my attic and that added about $1k. Worth it to be farther away from my bedrooms though.

My next door neighbor had a 24 W Generac (air cooled) by HMC Generators from Prairieville installed a couple months ago, and he was very happy with the install - he’s a retired mechanical engineer and he is detail orientated. He vetted and got bids from 4 companies.

His gas meter and electrical service were on opposite sides of the house about as far away from each other as can be. They ran the natural gas line from the meter, new NG meter upsized by Atmos, through the attic to the back of the house to the generator - electrical service location. Generator was placed on a newly poured concrete pad, which was included in the price. Cost was $13K.

I got a very large Cummins quiet series (60kw) and Gage did a fantastic job. Price in line with the 10 other quotes we got.
