Got a few pics from the garden this afternoon.

Sunflowers have been showing off.

Peppers are kinda leaning after all the weather this past week. But they’re doing well. The giant marconis live up to their name. Jalapeños, shishitos, and cayennes are starting to come in. And I’ve started picking a few tomatoes. Also got some eggplant coming in.

Beans are about to pop. And cucumbers are finally getting started.

Watermelon vines are starting to creep.

Its finally blueberry picking time!

And all of the onions are pulled and laid out in a shady spot with a fan on them.

I saw an asian lady beetle on cucumber this morning. Just one though.
If I see more what is best way to treat.

Found my first hornworms on a tomato plant this weekend. Got them before they did too much damage.

Pillage, how big of an area are your blackberry plants in and how many do you have? Looked like you were getting a good amount of berries.

I have 4 Prime Ark Freedom bushes in a 3’x12’ raised bed. I’m getting way more than we can handle. I’ve given a bunch away to the neighbors already.

I'm picking a bunch of cucumbers, squash, and zucchini. I've also started picking a few tomatoes and the heirlooms and dwarves are starting to come in. I'm going out of the country Thursday though and won't be back until June 1, so hopefully everything hangs on through the trip.

I made 10 jars of fridge pickles yesterday and planning for a BLT for lunch.

I'm already kinda over squash. I may pull the plants up and replace with Okra before my trip.

I'm about to mow down my Ison's Kiowa bushes and replace with Prime Ark. This is the second year that they've produced berries smaller than wild. I have a Prime Ark on its second year and the berries are double the size of the Kiowas. Plus, no thorns.

What do yall use for controlling those red leaf footed bugs. I tried neem oil but it doesn't seem to be super effective

Organic methods, even pyrethrin and spinosad, are really only effective against the young nymphs. Once they reach adulthood you’re going to have to use something stronger like permethrin or zeta-cypermethrin.

Took a 5 day trip out of town. When I got back the tops of half of my tomato plants were decimated. Have yet to find one. Sprayed some neem oil until I can really address it.

That said, not a whole lot of Jap beetles this year, and less leaf footed bugs than last year at this time.

That was one of the more enjoyable things I've done with the fruit of my harvest. Still have two bottles in my bar that have been under cork for about 3 years now. Highly recommend it!

My garden is a puzzle to me right now.

All plants are looking good, or better than other years. All have blooms, peppers, squash, cukes, and tomatoes....none are putting on fruit. Even my cherry tomatoes that yearly put on so many that I eventually just pick em off and throw them in the yard, are only producing 4-5 clusters per plant right now. Maybe it was the cooler night temps for so long and they are just a little behind? Maybe the torrential rains then nothing? I still hold out hope.

Sad day folks. My watermelons seemed to got hit with some type of fungus. The plants were doing great. I had them trellised from a brand new raised bed. First plants in that store bought dirt. I noticed the buds starting to rot? Or stop flowering about 2 weeks ago. Now, they are full of brown spots and half of the vines are yellowing/rotting. Newer fruits are rotting at the stem. I pulled them… didn’t want what ever it was to spread.

I’ve noticed a ton of stink bugs in my garden? Could this be my problem? Any other solutions would be good for future planting. I’ve bought some fungicide and some other bug killers off Amazon for my current plants. Going all natural appears to not be working out for my garden

I haven’t watered them hardly any in last couple weeks with all the rain here in south LA. So self over watering seems unlikely.

for every problem nature presents there is a counterbalancing natural solution. You just have to diagnose the actual cause of the problem

if it’s fungus then there are natural fungicides you can use. If it’s a soils problem you can amend the soils. Etc…

sometimes trial and error is the only way to figure it out.

I planted tomatoes in the same spot for years. One year they all detonated at the same time. I tried it again, same thing. So, I don’t plant tomatoes there anymore
