How much did you spend on your home gym?

Pricing out dumbbell sets, bench/chairs, barbells, free weights, squat rack, a couple other things like pull-up/dip bar.
At $20/month membership I’m guessing those that have a home gym is just a preference as the cost won’t pay for itself esp considering cardio equipment, etc.
Home gym guys, is the juice worth the squeeze?

I'll ask my butler's personal trainer and get back to you.

I bought the force USA G3 and a bunch of free weights during Covid. I canceled the Gym membership after doing the math on how much I had spent over the years.
For about 2500 you can do most anything you can do in the gym.

Probably got $2k-$3k worth of equipment. Bigger problem is the space it takes up.

November 2019, which matters considering inflation.
I paid $1500. I got a power rack with pull up bar, safety pins, a Titan fitness flat bench, 450 pounds of Titan weight plates, a Texas barbel, and a landmine attachment.
My parents added a weight tree that Christmas as a gift.
Two years later I purchased an adjustable bench for $300.
My parents also got me adjustable dumbbells for my birthday a few years ago. 6.6-44 pounds. Too light for what I want to do, but they’re good enough. I think they were around $200.
So ~$2200 for a pretty full gym. It’s been 10000% worth it.

Weights, bench, rack was about 1500 total. 1000 on a Concept 2 rower. Couple hundred on miscellaneous items. Less than 3000 total. Joining a gym would be cheaper but I like my privacy.

We put a lot into ours: peloton tread and bike, the rower concept 2, squat rack bench and accompanying weights and a Sunlighten sauna but I love it all so it’s worth it to me. Built it up over 4-5 years but all told 13-15k I guess

I've got an 850 sq. ft. man cave and in it I have the following:
Over 1000 lbs. of Olympic weights from 45 lb. plates down to 5 lb. plates.
2 Olympic bars
3 different curl bars
2 benches
Assorted dumbbells
Cable machine to do several different types exercises utilizing the free weights for resistance
An elliptical machine (the wife's that never gets used)
Outside in the back of the house under a 2nd story porch I have a 100 lb. heavy bag and a speed bag for some cardio.
All the above has been purchased from sporting goods stores or from private sales. Probably around $2K in total invested.

Had a really nice cable station with plates and it was pretty cool. Sold it and then bought a Marcy Olympic bench press setup. So, not much I guess.
I have a YMCA membership at one of their old gyms located nearby. It has a nice sized weight room that is about to undergo a face lift with new machines and new free weights and dumbbells.
Never had a need to expand at home.

Our high school had some like that in an outdoor rack left over from the forties or fifties or whenever. Nobody had bothered to dispose of them. They may be there yet.

I have both. Some weights (dumbbells, flat bent, straight bar with a few plates) at the house and Anytime Fitness membership. I use both everyday. I spent around $500-$600 on home weights and punching bag.

I’ll sell you my power rack, 300 lbs Olympic weights, Olympic bar, weight tree, and a flat bench for $500. Some of its a little beat up. Still works great

You can pick up one of these for around $15,000. 4 minute workout. All you need.

I really only needed a strong barbell and a dozen plates to work on my deadlifts

Gyms have turned into "instagram whore" territory with all the videoing workouts-----mostly posing and making duck lip faces while wearing tight spandex.
And people occupying equipment that they don't know how to use properly.
