Today I found out people bring speakers to listen to music out on the golf course

How is this a thing people do? I’m only 29 so definitely not some old fart, but golf as I’ve known it has always been a game of relative peace and quiet. Suddenly I’ve started getting advertisements for speakers that people use on the course.

Has anyone encountered this in real life? I couldn’t imagine blasting music while playing myself and I’d be pretty irate if I was out on the course and started hearing that near me while trying to play.

I’m sure everyone loves playing with you.

Everyone’s been blasting music for 10+ years

Is this a real post? Holy cow they’ve been selling magnetic speakers, cup holder speakers, and cooler bag speakers for years. The only invention that’s needed is a wearable device that will change the volume and direction of play based on where you are so that you can hear it from the cart while on the green but then it’s not blasting your ears off when you get back in.

I play by myself or with my dad/brother/uncles 100% of the time. Never heard once anyone ever even suggest we bust music out on the course. Absolutely insane to me.

ETA: I’ve also never even seen it on any course I’ve been to.

Have you played a round of golf in the last decade or so? Serious question.

Yes. Weekly to monthly in the summers. Mostly in NOLA and then when I moved in the NOVA area. I have never seen this.

I must play much nicer/classier courses than most here. Couldn’t imagine being so selfish as to blast music on the course. Or why it would even be warranted. We’re living in a society.

As long is the music isn’t so loud that I can hear it a fairway away, it’s no big deal. Personally it should only be loud enough for you to hear in your cart, not blasting like a LIV event.

I’d think this would be obvious. If I can hear it and I’m not in the group, that’s a problem.

I think most groups listen to music these days. I personally dont play music in a group but i have no problem if my friends do. I might make fun of their selection but i dont require silence.

I played in a pro am and got paired up with a guy who thought he was Kasey Kasem. Blasting music the whole time and dropping album/band trivia. The young pro was from australia and her parents thought the music was fantastic.

But i damn sure like to listen to music on the range. Do yall have a go-to range warmup song?

I can’t tell if you’re trolling or not.
Everyone plays music on the course, including old people.

I played at a country club that has a $160k initiation fee (not a brag I was invited by a coworker I cannot afford it). The carts had speakers built into them and all the old rich guys were blasting music.

I can’t imagine being so stuck up and boring that this bothers you

I doesn’t bother me per se but I would prefer someone not force it down my throat - obviously if it’s a regular play group that everyone’s comfortable with and it’s a normal thing then no big deal.

If I get paired with a random and they blast me with their shite music without even asking if I mind, then yeah it’s kind of annoying. To each his her own tho.

I would rather not hear music when I'm playing. It drowns out all of my cursing.

Well this is a surprise to me too. Guess I’m old and out of it. The club where I most often play would shut that down with the quickness.

If you’ve been playing at private country clubs your whole life & never hear music on the course, maybe LIV Golf isn’t for you.

No wonder why LIV gets so much hate around here

While you’re shooting an 84? It’s not that serious bro. I figured most people drink beer & listen to music when they golf.

I golf regularly and i am not trolling. I have simply never heard this. I’m perplexed that this is as ubiquitous as others on here are saying. I really have never heard it. I texted my brother who golfs more socially to ask and he said he’s really never seen it either.

I actually detest that LIV lets them wear shorts had no idea about the music. That makes it so much worse.

And the music isn’t even about concentration or skill. It’s about enjoying a little peace and quiet while I golf. I’m not trying to say it makes my score much different. I’m sure I could get used to it skill wise but lord the last thing I want when I’m golfing is music playing. In my head they’re just incompatible.

ETA: drinking is another one that I knew people would do but I have no desire to. But I also never drink except at like Mardi Gras or football games.

You sound like you need to go play a couple rounds at a public course

If you want peace & quiet, go fishing..
or on a hike in the woods..

I thought golf was supposed to be about having fun.

Go play a round at Joe Bart and then report back
