Anyone played the Island lately? How’s the course?

Not to bad, probably 7/10

Tee box and fairways rock hard from dry weather, roll for days though. Greens are nice

Played a week ago. It's in pretty decent shape, although my perception of decent is really being morphed by the local publics currently. I've played The Island, LSU, and City Park in the last 2 weeks. LSU is somehow worse that I remembered a few years back, City Park is in very rough shape and you might as well pick up once you hit the greens. The Island was nice by comparison. actual fairways, grass on the greens. Tee boxes were indeed rock hard, but fine. I was going to try and squeeze Webb in but it seems to stay pretty busy. Has it gotten any better in the last couple of years?

In great shape. Greens were really good. Wasn’t expecting much and left very impressed.

A few years ago, around covid, the pumped some money into Webb or got someone that knew what they were doing. They had fairway lines and grass, etc. Which doesn't sound like much, but it's a big improvement from what it was when I was younger. Haven't played it recently though, so I can't say on current conditions.

My feelings are the same about City Park. I wish someone came in and blew up the greens and redid them. I love the layout and the walk. But it's basically pointless to putt out there. I'm not looking for USGA spec, country club level greens. But Webb level greens would be amazing.

Played yesterday,Webb greens are not the best right now, looks like poa is trying to take over. Very bumpy.

Played there Saturday, like playing on concrete and greens were in terrible shape. it was my first time playing there in probably 20 years and I'm in no hurry to go back anytime soon.

Played City Park last week. They are actually redoing #7 green right now. Grass has been torn up and sand is down several inches. No idea if they are going to expand the footprint of the green (it's badly needed). They can go ahead and blow up the rest of them while they're at it, IMO.

If they went in with big greens with a bunch of bold contours, the course would amazing. It's a great walk. The layout with the hills is fun. The greens are just so miserable it isn't nearly as fun to play as it should be.
