Hahaha nope. I started my third Elden Ring run yesterday and so am going to save Kalameet for another day.

I’m doing a dex/arkane bleed build run with dual wield katanas. My previous runs were strength/tank with broadsword. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Lol, you’re going to love this…

He’s vastly less fair than Manus. I’ve first tried Manus several times. I’ve first tried Kalameet once.

After a few night break, Manus down. On to Kalameet. We'll meet Hawkeye tomorrow night before bed.

I literally went to the dark side last night on my first time play through. I'm in Londo and I died, respawned and accidentally hit attack. Hit my sun bro and he's pissed. Try exiting and dieing again, nothing. He's still pissed. I'm pretty deep in Londo so trying to escape with him chasing me to absolve my sins doesn't seem an option, so I killed him I'm wearing his armor now in tribute, I then went and killed Abbot and Costello first try and then killed Gwyn and her brother because why not? I had already killed the only sunshine in Londo, might as well make it all dark. Still sucked tho

It’s weird how different my playthroughs are now from my early ones. In my first playthrough, I did every NPC quest to completion. Now, I don’t even talk to NPCs that I don’t need as vendors for the build I’m doing

Kalameet down. My daughter enjoyed Gough's last shot and why he helped us. Had to explain killing Artorias was actually a kindness.

On to the Lord's souls. We will save our friend first.

Making some good progress in my second ever playthrough. Nothing has been terribly challenging yet. I've beaten Asylum Demon, Taurus Demon, Capra Demon, Gargoyles, Gaping Dragon, Quelaag, Titanite Demon, Butterfly, Sif, Iron Golem (in that order I think).

Started progressing through Anor Londo late last night and got killed by the weird praying mantis looking things once, and then the fricking archer once. Decided to go to bed. No biggie or anything but it was way too late to be fricking with that shite.

When I first played this game back before Elden Ring came out, it took me several days to get through Sen's Fortress. This time I maybe died 4-5 times at most. My overall playtime this go round is much shorter than the first playthrough.

The quickest way to tell the difference between DkS rookies and DkS vets is watching which basic mobs they stop to fight and which they simply run past. Once you understand what you can simply run past, your death count starts to plummet.

Good example of this are the giant sentinels in Anor Londo. I fought each one last night to get the souls, but upon death I don't frick around with them anymore. They aren't hard to beat at all, and drop 1500-2000 or so souls each, but if you stop and lure them out one by one every time you run through the areas they inhabit, then the time can add up. If I remember correctly, you can pretty much ignore every one of them in the area for the most part anyways.

I never attack a single one of them anymore, ever. I used to sometimes farm the one just outside of O&S after killing them if I found myself short on titanite chunks, but now I have enough locations memorized that I don’t even do that anymore.

Going purely from memory for Anor Londo: I generally kill the first and second gargoyle, just because. When I go through the first window, I usually kill both painting guardians even though it’s not really necessary. I generally kill the three guardians in the rafters, just to be safe. Once I’ve raised the staircase (killing the second gargoyle). I run past everything: the sentinels, the lightning demons, everything. I kill or lure to his death the archer on the right. Bonfire. Depending on my mood, I’ll kill the silver knight at the bottom of the staircase. Then I do the staircase jump shortcut to the main chamber. Run past the sentinels and take on O&S.

So two gargoyles, two to five painting guardians, and one to two silver knights.

In the entirety of Anor Londo. And again, even that’s unnecessary. You can run past both gargoyles, (within reason) three of the five painting guardians, and the silver knight at the bottom of the stairs.

That would leave you with a grand total kill count of two painting guardians and one silver knight.

Well, I will say this....running past everything in a level/area is also not a ton of run for me either. I'm not a speed runner, so I'll likely never go to the extreme you are talking about unless the area has a long run back to the boss after death. So yeah, first time in an area I'll try and kill most things, but after dying I'll skip shite unless I'm specifically trying to farm souls, items, or materials.

That’s not extreme. For example, the only thing speed runners kill in Anor Londo is the one silver knight archer. They quick bait the first rafter guardians and jump directly from the rafter down to the platform to skip the last ones

I draw a distinction between speed running strats and simply internalizing what my chosen undead is here for: ring the bells, get the lord vessel, gather the lord souls, kindle the first flame. (And kill all the optional bosses, but bosses are different)

If there are things that step into a doorway and I can’t move past them, they die. If they are going to quickly chase me from behind, they die.

But if I can just trot past them and never worry about turning back around? I think my chosen undead would simply trot on by. Killing every mosquito, cragspider, leech, and barbarian in lower blight town doesn’t strike my chosen undead as a good use of his time

I mean...I was pretty clear. It's an extreme...to me, and it's not fun...to me, to run past everything.

I don't worry about the blobs and mosquitos and all that stupid shite, and I'll avoid the basilisks and shite that'll annoy me, but if you have things to drop on my first pass through an area, I'm fighting it. I'm not playing the game for end goals and boss fights, I'm playing for my own personal enjoyment which doesn't include sprinting through areas to reach goals.

Also, I've been pretty clear, again, that I am playing the game for the 2nd time. You, on the other hand, have been clear that you've played many times to the point where you can beat the game in 7 hours. Two different players with two different levels of experience.

If I personally wanted to do that, I'd play Super Mario Wonder.

I completely get it

Like I’ve said before, my first playthrough was exhaustive, 80-90 hours or so. My second took… something like 40 hours? My third playthrough was another big chunk drop, probably down to 15-20. Probably got below 10 on my fourth or so. And yeah, down around 7 hours these days, if I’m not intentionally gimping the build somehow.

But absolutely *not* how I would suggest relatively new players to play the game. fricking awful. Talk to the NPCs and do their questline, get run through by hollows, etc, etc, etc. That’s all part of the Dark Souls experience, because it’s part of understanding the world. It’s just not what those of us returning for our umpteenth playthrough are looking for, and that colors the way we tend to picture the game in our heads when we talk about it

I'm close to finishing up my second full playthrough in New Game. I'm kicking myself for missing some stuff (a couple of tail weapons for instance). I'm feeling motivated to go for platinum so I might do two more runs which I think are needed to acquire all of the weapons. Also going to have to cheat probably and look some stuff up so I can meticulously plan the next 2 runs to ensure I don't have to do an extra run.

Maybe it's just my experience in FromSoft games at this point, but I'd say all but maybe 2 or 3 bosses have been incredibly easy this time. All I have left are the Dark Sun and Gwyn, plus the DLC. I'm doing DLC now before going back to Anor Londo to handle Dark Sun and then Gwyn.

Got to Artorias and died a couple of times before bed last night. Didn't seem all that daunting and I got close to finishing him off in the 2nd attempt. I feel good about that. I'm looking forward to the challenge when facing Manus and the Black Dragon though.

After playing Elden Ring, I seriously doubt Dark Souls would offer any real challenge.
