Leaving food out overnight seems to be a regular occurrence with people on this thread.

I am interested to know the demographics of the posters that say to heat it and eat it.
Single, no kids is my guess.

Married two kids, turn 40 in Nov. Leaving food out isn't a normal occurrence in my household, but that doesn't mean I'm automatically throwing something out after 4 hours because some nerd here says to.

I bought sliced deli ham at Rouses last night only to wake up this morning to find I forgot it on the counter. Made 4 sandwiches for me, the wife and 2 kids. Life is only worth living when living on the edge!

As for leaving gumbo out all night:

Have those of you saying don't eat it ever been to a party with food out on the counter? Do you not eat that? shite stays out for hours on end getting consumed by people, and this really isn't any different. Actually it's safer since you don't have filthy hands digging into it for those hours. It sat undisturbed after cooking for hours.

Eat it. If you get sick, then flog yourself for your weakness.

If it was left out from 12pm-10pm, nobody would bat an eye. If it’s not seafood, it’s probably safe. Heat it up and go with it.

Leaving food out at a party for 2-4 hours isn't quite the same as leaving food out for 9 hours (from 9 to 6). And...just becuase people do it doesn't mean there is no plausible risk.

Smoked Brisket, I agree with you. It's amazing how many posters want to argue against facts and tell other people that it's safe without any regard to food safety. Don't get me wrong, if you want to eat it, go for it. But telling others that it's safe is pure ignorance. I'm not saying don't eat it, I'm saying you cannot tell others that it is safe.

All you fricking do is harp on it being dangerous starting at 4 hours. Either stand by what you post or don't.

Says the guy now back off the 4 hour number.

Who here has expressly said "it's safe?"

The parties go much longer than that. They just tell you 2-4 hours so they can get rid of you.

2-4 hours isn't STARTING at 4 hours, it's ending at 4 hours. WTF are you rambling about?

Toss the gumbo.
This shouldn't be an argument.

ETA: or eat the gumbo and let us know how it went.

You should probably google what things mean before you spam them multiple times in one thread.
