Hard to find bourbon is readily available at Walmart and other grocers in Arizona.

And at a much discounted price. I almost tripped over a case of buffalo trace at Safeway and got it on sale for $20 for the 1 L. Later on during a Walmart run in Page, it was $25 and had cases just sitting there. Didn’t see much top shelf stuff, but I could get a few cases of this back home, I could retire. Never seen this many in the wild.

They got Pappy at the Racetrack in Des Allemands.

BT is an allocated bourbon but it’s one of the easiest allocateds to find.
I have probably a case of it right now. The harder to find ones are way better - Stagg, Blanton, and of course December’s distro of pappy.
The local Walmart here in Kentucky had 5 cases of pappy last December. 5! A 10,12,13,15, and 20! The 20 went for $197 a bottle. After market of $4k or more.

Is it because of all the Mormons?

‘Hard to find’ and ‘readily available at Walmart’ seem inconsistent in this sense.

I’m sure I’ll get downvoted for it, but I’ve seen the clamoring for blackberry crown here recently. Is it really that good? Or should I just leave it alone?

My local liquor store in Mississippi (and closest to the distribution center) only gets a case of trace every month or two. There is an aftermarket on a bourbon lovers Facebook page.

What kind of price are you used to paying for mid market bourbon?
If you can't find a 100 1L bottles of Buffalo Trace readily available at $25 in an easy half hour of your home, your retailers are reaming you.

If you agree that Buffalo Trace is a rare top shelf find, then yes, you should certainly seek out the trending flavor of Crown Royal.

Maybe it’s a central Mississippi thing, although, when I was in Baton Rouge last year at total wine, they looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for some and said it sells out immediately. Same for Eagle Rare. When I was in eastern Kentucky, same story, which was very surprising. Maybe I have bad luck.

I can get rabbit hole at the bait shop across the bayou from my house in Lacombe. It’s pretty good.

I figured there would be more closer to the source but that's nuts.

Hate you can’t order the stuff online and have it shipped to your house in Mississippi.

Buffalo trace is very easy to find common. It’s decent but nothing special.
I’m more of a rye guy anyway. If anyone is into rye, check out seagrass. It’s not expensive and it’s readily available at like $70. But it’s delicious, and barrel proof.
Nothing beats the boss though

Buffalo Trace however is not. Not sure what that's all about ITT. It's as common as water.
