Cooked my onions and peppers on the grill for fajitas last night and really enjoyed it. Problem was I lost about 1/4 to the grate spaces. Yall use any of these or have a better solution?

I use the basket in the 2nd photo, but it is so rusty it bothers me. I may try the basket in the first photo.

That's what I have, too, or something similar to it- it's a PITA to clean so I just opt for roasted veggies instead of grilled.

Another for the 2nd basket and don't use it much. I usually just quarter or maybe half the veggies depending on original size or intended use and then cut again once grilled.

This is what I'm concerned about. Wondering if may be best to keep the veggie pieces large when grilling and then chop them after they are grilled . Seems like this could make for some not very pretty food but whatever.

I use a lodge cast iron grill topper. It's a pain to clean, though. I usually try to burn everything off of it. Every now and then I pressure wash it then reseason.

I use a skewer and make a kabob like this. .... perfect for a fire roasted salsa.

I'm on a BGE, but I use a stainless griddle insert for fajita style veggies and meat most of the time, now. I do have a grill "basket" that works if I need to be cooking something else simultaneously on the grate therefore not allowing me to put the flat top insert in.

I have a Smittys carbon pan that I put on a hot part of the grill and it does amazing veggies. A little olive oil and drop em in.

I have a couple trays similar to the bottom pic of the OP's post.

They work great for stuff like green beans, asparagus, okra, etc. that can slip through the grates.

I did a dozen kebabs last night and didn't lose anything since all the stuff was skewered, although the end vegetables did try to slip away a few times as they got cooked.

Replaced my Weber grates with Grill Grates. They have a flat side and a "grill mark" side, and can be mixed and matched.

Either side is good for vegetables, as they can't fall through. The flat side will sear the heck out of a steak.

I use this grill basket. Got it from Amazon. It is stainless and so far I have had no rust issues.

Dude that looks cool. Haven’t seen that before. Gonna have to get that. I usually get the meat thinly sliced, marinate and put on dehyd trays, but that looks much easier.

As mentioned, carbon steel works too, but just use a cast iron or carbon steel pan on top of the grill. Use stuff you already have. Carbon steel is obviously going to be easier to move the veggies around without a utensil.

Cut them larger so they don't fall through the grate, then slice them smaller after cooking.

Or spend money on that contraption.

I used to use a basket similar to the second picture but it got all rusty in the garage and I don’t feel like restoring it. Costco got this boi for $20 right now so I may give it a try. I’ve become a fan of carbon steel.
