When I drank coffee daily, I had a Nespresso machine. It uses pods you order online. Great coffee IMO. I'm no expert though.

Great to know. I see horror stories about coffee sitting in Amazon warehouses for months.

A lot of them do, that’s why I started ordering direct from FRC. Just check the roast date, any reputable roaster should be stamping them.

Ordered it on January 31, and it was shipped from Italy to my door, delivered Monday, February 5. No hitches or glitches at all. Grinder, once dialed in, works great, is very quiet and super easy to use.

Thanks for this info! So far, so good?

That’s a supermodel showing up at a prom. Gorgeous machine.

Perhaps we can shift to espresso martinis? Since I don’t get out much, I didn’t realize how popular they were. Had a couple over for dinner last night and the wife immediately asked about the espresso machine and whether I could make her a martini. After having to look it up on my phone, I gave it a try. That’s a delicious drink.I’m going to visit my coffee roaster in a few minutes and going to double my weekly buy.

I mean why not combine coffee and alcohol. I love coffee stouts. I’ve brewed a couple. Espresso martinis aren’t my jam but I’d drink the shite out of one.

Heads up perm, I messed with the flow rate this weekend. Two full rotations of the screw got me to about 4ml/s. Left my grind setting at about 20. Shot pulled fast and barely got above 4 or 5 bars of pressure. Going to grind a little finer to dial it in. I’ve also been dosing at 19g after changing to an IMS basket. Probably will get it re-dialed this coming weekend.

Yeah, I had it nice and dialed in. I since purchased a bottomless portafilter and upped the dose to 20g. I had it decently dialed in and then i started putting about 5g of bean in the grinder at a time and I had to put the grind setting a lot finer. Still monkeying around with it.

Yeah, do you find a difference grinding like that? I’m assuming it’s a lot different on the grind size because I’ve really had to adjust the grinder.

CDM Coffee & Chicory for me every time I make coffee at the house.

It's what I grew up drinking and when I've tried plain coffee, no matter the type, I find it weak and unappealing.

I've bought coffee beans from Whole Foods and other markets that have dozens of varieties and haven't found one that I prefer over CDM.

I haven’t tried yet. Haven’t even watched the video because I know once I do, I will want to try. People in the Home Espresso FB group are saying it’s legit and you do have to grind much finer.

Lance is funny, every time one of his videos drops it flips some law of espresso on its head.

I just pulled two shots at the same grinder setting and same exact prep. One choked out the machine and the other ran too fast. I think to do Lance’s method you have to weigh each dose into the grinder. I’m not sure it’s worth all that hassle.

Give it time, someone will 3d print a mod for the DF that will allow it to slow feed. Aftermarket always comes through.

I’m with you though, don’t have time to be doing that. Nor is my palate sophisticated enough to tell the difference.

I have that Breville machine. My one complaint is that the baskets get clogged. You can store them in vinegar and they still will get clogged, so it’s not an issue of calcification. I go through a lot of those baskets, they’re 20 bucks each or so.
