I change my vote. I had assumed he was a recent addition.

If he was a member while the rule was in place then that should be on him.

You all agreed to rules outside the league then that should be what applies.

I would consider making a poll with the rest of your league to see their thoughts.

Is there a prize for 2nd and 3rd? If not maybe you could just have a 3 team final where highest scorer on the week wins. Whatever you decide maybe you could get input from the rest of the league.

Good luck.

If there’s written rules that have been enforced previously, those are the rules. You should move on due to your bench points lead

It does suck that it wasn’t updated on the platform itself. Coin flip or something similar is not a crazy solution

Commish fricked up and league fricked up by not making the platform rules consistent with the written rules. However the platform rules should be final in this case

Right

Were the league site or written rules referenced the last time an issue came up?

Is every written rule still used or are there old rules in there not consistent with the current setup?

The commish has decided that both of us have a legit point so we will decide the winner via coin flip.

If the rest of your story is accurate, the only way I'd be okay with this result is if the coin flip is rigged in my favor. No chance I'm okay with having lost a matchup in a previous year and then being refused that ruling later.

Either way, the fact that this is even a discussion would prevent me from ever participating in said league again. Especially if money is involved. Changing the rules after the season starts is the same as breaking a contract imo.

Didn't see this before my previous comment. Makes me feel even stronger about my opinion.

You should be demanding you move on to the next round. No coin flip. Move you forward or give you your money back. Full stop.

Our league went with tenths this year for scoring as we had too many ties last year, this year there were some close ones but no ties whatsoever.

We go hundredths in all my leagues and never have to think about it. So much better than ties

The old people in our league don't like changes unless they feel like they benefit from them and vote common sense down.

Because regular season results should have no bearing on the playoffs. Once the playoffs start, everyone is on equal footing. The bench players are at least on your team and have results that can be tallied for the week.

Bench points is a terrible rule lacking common sense compared to seeding

Are you one of the old people dodging common sense?

Yeah a bench is meant to set yourself up for future weeks. If you're using bench points to break tiebreakers you're eliminating most of the season long strategy.

If the commish didn't update the rules then that's on him, but the true winner shouldn't be penalized for it. I guess you should win, but the commissioner in my opinion should pay the other guy back his buy in out of his own pocket for fricking up the league setup.

However, If yall decide to go with the coin flip, wouldn't it be better to just turn on decimal scoring for the previous week and award the team with the most points the win? That's better than all these dumbass options

First of all, you need decimal scoring

Zero reason why a 10 yard rush is with 1 point and a 9 yard rush is worth 0 points

Secondly, it should be higher seed. Stacking QBs on your bench is a dumb way to decide a playoff tie.

Lastly, league rule book takes precedent over platform if the rule book says so
