If SI is the first to report it - especially Ross or Pete - there is a 99.9% chance it is completely false. Pete has a tendenancy to take a sliver of something true and build a complete, disconnected lie out of it (ie. Honey Badger was popular so wrote fake story about promoting parties w cover charges) and Ross writes absolute fairy tales, with almost no basis in reality whatsoever. Both are trash.

Why do you think Aranda agreed to the contract? He probably got word he was out of the running for both LSU and USC. It means Woodward has his guy.
Even if Woodward didn’t have his guy, It is absolutely asinine to think LSU would be in a bind because a guy who was a good, but not great defensive coordinator here and a guy who has been a good, but not great head coach through 20 games is not coming here. This program won national championships with Les Miles and Ed Orgeron at the helm, and those guys are 2 of the biggest meatheads to coach college football.
LSU will be fine. Relax.

Stoops is doing fine at UK, he’s built a nice floor. He’s hit the portal hard and developed a recruiting base in Ohio
He still hasn’t had a real break through team there in ten years, just been mediocre in a very down SEC East. He’s shown nothing to say he’s capable of much more.
His offense is also dull as can be.
I don’t see it being Stoops though so

Never said he was a bad coach. The point is if we end up with Stoops, Woodward firing O mid-season and starting his “search” would be a completely pointless. He could have hired Stoops on Sunday with one phone call I’m sure. It’s settling because everyone else told him no. He would have essentially gotten 4 or 5 coaches huge raises and settled for option 6 or lower. Not exactly a good look. If he does hire him, he should probably start praying that he’s a success, because that’s the kind of hire that gets you fired if the program tanks.
