From a good source: Fickell turned down USC. Not sure where things go. Not a lot of big fish names.

From a USC friend of mine.

If they were after Fickell, perhaps they know Aranda is already committed elsewhere...

He's a Midwestern guy and honestly, USC has been such a shitshow since Pete Carroll that he'd probably rather settle for a better situation.

No doubt his connections at OSU keep him in the know and Day more than likely has an NFL itch to scratch soon as he wins a NC or is ready. LF would no doubt be at the top of the list there. I think his actions at Cinn speak more to what may happen at OSU than anything else. My 0.02$.

Fickell is holding out for a Midwest job...Penn St for example.

No one wants to go to USC under the current administration there.

They loathe football.

Luke Fickell is actually comedic actor Steve Coogan. His coaching career is a Kaufmanesque performing arts project

The right coach can do well there because of recruiting but college football is an after thought in L.A.

I think USC is the easiest turnaround out of all the fallen blue bloods.

Talent galore, middling competition, and although I hate them, USC has the cool factor like few other schools, especially west coast.

The political environment alone makes USC less appealing. Just my opinion but if I was a multi millionaire whose salary and job security depended on the youth of Southern California....just typing that makes me cringe.

Idk, it seems there are some programs that are so caught up in their past successes that they don’t know who they really are now, and coaches go there to die. Texas, USC, etc.

Penn State is not in the Midwest. Cincinnati is not in the Midwest. Ohio StTe is not in the MIDWEST. might be one of the most over used terms in CFB! The Midwest is huuuuuge…
