In the 2019 Peach Bowl we dropped 49 on OU in the first half BDJ threw 7 TDs. The offense gained over 700 yards. OU shite the bed in a tough game.

I want that coach.

We should definitely hire Gus Malzahn then.

Beats Saban semi regularly.

Held Joe under 30 both years.

So inheriting a talent-rich, blue blood program is the same as taking over downtrodden programs like FAU and Ole Miss? Lane built. Riley maintained. There's a difference.

Ding ding ding. Riley has only continued what Stoops built. Same with Day at Ohio State but neither of them are program builders

LSU doesn't need a program builder lol.

Sustaining a program is hard anyway. Ask Texas.

All LSU needs is a guy that can develop a QB and Lincoln is the best in CFB in attracting them, and coaching them.

And FYI, Riley's vaunted Oklahoma offense is 18th in the country (455.3 ypg). Meanwhile Dave Aranda has Baylor's offense at 19th in the country (453.6 ypg), and the players at Baylor aren't close to what you see at Oklahoma.

Dave Aranda has nothing to do with the offense at Baylor

How many other coaches could have kept the momentum at OK rolling though a crappy Big 12 conference?

"Big 12 is crappy"

Yet there are 3 large contingents of this board that want Dave Aranda, Lincoln Riley, or Matt Campbell lol.

To your point about $12M vs $3M. How does the difference impact any of us? If we don’t spend it it’s all going back to rich people. The only way they could possibly help any of us, personally, is that they invest that money back in the stock market to drive returns. And you know what $9 million and the total Stock market means? About 0.000000019% more of what’s already there. I’ll sacrifice that growth for a better coach

Again??? It’s easy to see why Louisiana ranks dead last in education if you think Riley wouldn’t absolutely dominate here.

A very large group of LSU fans still think Steve Ensminger was a good OC. 10 years of Les miles shell shocked them. They have zero concept of what a modern offense is supposed to look like. Even after 2019 with joe Brady

So if SW doesn’t hire a HC that WINS AT LEAST 95% of the games he coaches, in a SEC like conference (doesn’t exist), who’s an Offensive & Defensive GURU (also doesn’t exist) that doesn’t need to rely on hiring elite OC’s & DC’s to be successful. He simply MUST be able 2 DO IT ALL himself, Otherwise Woodward’s a friggin dumb arse & this hire is guaranteed to be a FAILURE!!!

Apparently your reading comprehension is lacking. I said he's a good coach, but I don't think he's any better than Aranda. The problem is that to get Riley we have to pay a long term contract at a ridiculous price. If things don't work out we are stuck with him for a long time. Why should we pay for perfection when as you said it doesn't exist?

Aranda you can give a 5 year deal and pay half as much. If it doesn't work out we try again. But as near as I can tell Dave has as good a chance of working out as Riley if not better.

The issue is not the salary. The issue is the length of the contract combined with the salary. Those are hard to get out from under if things don't work out.

Sorry, but that is just ridiculous. He's the head coach. He picked the offensive coordinator if nothing else.

Man there's a lot of straw man arguments and deflection up in here. There's no need to get defensive. We're just trying to be conscientious shoppers. There are no perfect coaches. They all have flaws. We all just want LSU to make the best purchase.

I think Aranda is a better choice than Riley, but right now I don't see any reason to look at anyone but these two. If you want to make the best choice you have to compare your options critically.

He's the luckiest coach around who you guys build up to be some sort of offensive genius as his teams struggle against Tulane, Kansas and Iowa State. Then gets soul raped by Aranda because he can coach defense
