Guy who broke the news Kim Mulkey to LSU says Franklin is LSU’s top candidate

Ron Higgins the editor from Tiger Rag who was first to break the news on Mulkey to LSU says that James Franklin is the no 1 candidate on LSU’s list and that Lane Kiffin is among the mix at the top. Higgins stated this to Nick Dias on a recent podcast. Also noting that USC is also after Franklin.
It will be a bidding war if true.

I'm not seeing the reason why anyone would be interested in Franklin. There is nothing to get excited about. Penn State is known for 2 and BBQ.

Kiffin didn't exactly put out the fire with respect to him being hired here when asked about it today, he said "You don't worry about things you can't control" and "We'll just work through it" pertaining to he and the Ole Miss team, I was surprised he didn't having stronger response, something more along the lines of what Jimbo said.

I guess the guys at CBS are all washed up too, because they agree it’s Franklin at the top, and Kiffin is in the mix. In fact most sports podcasts posts agree. Why are you so butt sore?

Mulkey and Jimbo shouldn't be barometers for what Woodward might do. A&M said here is a blank check don't come back without Jimbo and Mulkey wanted to be here it was figuring out the numbers. Those hires are examples of Woodward knowing what we wants to do and getting it to the finish line.

I'm not necessarily a cheerleader for the guy but this notion that he's not a great coach is starting to get absolutely ridiculous. The knock on his coaching ability is that he's lost a game or 2 that he wasn't supposed to. Ok so which candidate hasn't?
Franklin did at Vandy what no one has ever accomplished. At least not in my 40 years. 2/3 years there he finished ranked. 2 9 win seasons. A 5-3 season in the sec. And not during a down SEC east either. He competed with vandy when UGA, Florida, AND South Carolina were all in the top 10.
At Penn State he has 3 11 win seasons and is probably on his way to his 4th. Since he has been there only 2 schools not named Ohio State have won a big ten championship. Penn st and Mich st. And they along with Michigan and Ohio state are all in the same division. Sound familiar with a problem we have?
So he's a young coach that has proven he can recruit and win in the top 2 conferences in the country, he has gone up against elite programs and has kept a sustained level of success. And I know it doesn't mean shite to most people but it does to our president - he fulfills the diversity requirement. And trust me if thats a requirement you better pray that Franklin is the guy.
