All of that is true. I know one of the contractors that started working on it and got kicked off the job. There were foundation issues. That area is right on the edge of devil's swamp.

I always wondered what house was on the other side of that damn fence.
If you're from that area then you would know who the Finkelsteins, Levys, Nelkins and Guariscos are.....and would know the history about that property

That house in Thibodaux is owned by one family. Husband and wife both doctors. Husband is on board of directors for TRMC. He also owns gas stations and other businesses.

Well I declare... a man could really get some thinkin' done on a porch like that. Yes suh. A mint julep would render it downright agreeable.

I once had to do some work in the canal that runs through Castle Cove Rd. I was from out of town and had no clue that the castle even existed. I saw on the map where I had to go, but when I got there Castle Cove Rd was gated off.
I said "frick it", and hopped the gate. 5 seconds later a truck pulled up, and some baws with guns jumped out asking what the frick I was doing. They don't play 'round there. Words don't express how confused I was when the dudes were bitching at me for trespassing their "castle". I had been working in that bumfrick area for 2 weeks, and the last thing I expected to be on the end of that gravel road was a castle. No lie, this dude was basically telling me that I was a dumbass for thinking that a road called Castle Cove wouldn't have a castle on it. The whole thing was surreal.
There's another castle in Franklinton that I've done work at. It's currently used as a wedding venue.

From the 70s through the 90s Winnfield was a 2A school that played, and regularly beat, 4A and 5A schools. At one point in the eighties LSU had four starters from Winnfield on the football team at the same time. 5 or 6 NFl players, a couple of MLB players and an NBA player came from Winnfield/Winn parish. All those guys moved away and their offspring played elsewhere. Now Winnfield struggles to go .500 and winning a game in the first round of the playoffs is a big accomplishment
Don’t I know it, hence the name WINNtiger lol

I know that family well. Grew up with his grandson and his daughter in law was my first grade teacher.
Still was never told anything about the property sadly.
