I just attempted to eat my first MRE since Katrina

And, man, are these things bad.
The heating packs didn't work.
All the choices were some variation of Meat with Beans.
The food tasted like the most processed meal you've ever had. It was a weird mix of overly salty, yet flavorless.
The cracker with sesame seed butter wasn't bad though.
I suspect these aren't the same MREs our soldiers are getting, because the bags say something like "Humanitarian Rations."
At least the Katrina MREs had really good chili mac, and a bottle of Tabasco.

No meat in those Baw. Only thing good is the oatmeal cookie. Everyone I have opened was bean salad and beans with potatoes.

Sounds like you've got a civilian FEMA ration. Those things suck a bag of dicks. The military rations are much better. Hell I ate a German bundeswehr ration the other day for fun that was delicious.
