Goodbee- I’m staying but wife will never stay again. I think we had 100 mph gusts but not sure what the sustained winds were.

We got any estimate on how hard the winds were actually blowing over here? By time the worst of it got to us, it was dark and power was out so I couldn’t see shite outside

I’d like to know about Madisonville too. Radio coverage sucked balls. It was all New Orleans, New Orleans,, New Orleans. Even while we were getting the worst of it once it was getting past NO all they would talk about was NO. You would have thought the storm itself had evaporated. Hardly told you where the damn thing was, winds, etc.

I can’t do that again. I have some family/friends that rode it out with zero tree presence. There weren’t any clear tree threats where we are but a handful of worst case scenario ones.

A nice big F U to the Northshore from WWL radio during the press conference yesterday to cut to Daddy Roberto in the middle of the St. Tammany press conference.

The wife (no pics) told me she read that Cleco estimates 21 days to get everyone online again.

I was putting a lot of faith in the NHC track. I know it’s just a forecast and not absolute. If it had stayed on the path it was forecast to, we would have maybe had 50-60 mph winds here. The sob fooled everyone. If I knew with a little more warning it was going to take the path that it took, I would have bugged out.

Before next season, there are two trees I am taking down to feel safe enough that the house would be okay. I’m also getting me a hurricane credit card. If I don’t have the cash in hand, I’ll charge my way out of dodge. That was the longest goddamn night of my life, but I had to keep my shite together for the sake of my daughters (no pics). I evacuated for Katrina and Isaac but I ain’t staying for another one. frick that shite.

My son left BR on Friday after classes to come home because it was supposed to be bad there. He would have been better off staying. lol But at least he is here now to help me and his grandpa to clean up messes.

Any baws see those rainbows yesterday evening?

We need a lessons learned thread.

There obvious things you can do to prepare. But you thew out a couple of good ones that more people need to be aware of: keeping trees trimmed and away from the house (and power lines) and creeping a cash stash large enough to buy big ticket supplies and repairs after the storm.

WST > Cleco in every way imaginable. Had WST for 10 years, longest outage was Isaac and it was only about 12 hours. The half of the neighborhood supplied by cleco was several days.

I’ve had Cleco at the new place for a couple years now and I’m not looking forward to how they up the rates again because of a storm.

I’m on WST also in the Bush area. We’ve been out since about 9:00 PM Sunday night. Yesterday I was hearing it wouldn’t be long before we got power. Hopefully, we’ll get it soon because it’s getting hot in this house. Good news is their outage map is slowly showing people getting their power back:

finally got some intel from my neighbors who stayed in hammond and some pix of my property. it looks like god dropped pixie stix down on the yard except the pixie stix are 50- year old pines and oaks. there is no way i could have stayed, nobody needs that kind of terror in their lives

hopefully i can cut my way in there today. i think the only building that got t-boned is my barn (and boats). the house appears to have been spared

I saw about 10 Cleco trucks driving south on 190 towards mandeville yesterday.

Critical infrastructure stations, schools, hospitals, municipal buildings, and then resi areas.

I do remember after Gustav seeing hundreds of energy trucks parked at the mall of LA. Wish we could see that here in Mandy/Cov.

Cgrand, I stayed in Hammond and it’s a warzone. The university got destroyed, but good news many electric trucks are out and about with them staging at the mall.

Yea I heard the entrance is flooded. Our neighborhood is weird. Some areas are really high and some low.

Anyone in Bedico Creek that could possibly make a run and make a pass by my house on Deer Park Ct. that would be immensely appreciated.. still haven't been able to get any feedback.

Thanks for the update and your hard work! Are there lots of trees/power lines down on W 21st near the library as well?

I’m about to check my place by the library. Need me to check anything for you?

Friend at the hospital said Cleco is telling them they hope to have them up by Thursday at the latest fwiw

Cleco guy said yesterday they had 2000 people en route. I know it's hard to be patient, I was in your shoes this time last year. But you will probably see some today and by tomorrow they'll be everywhere.

The line for Lowe’s has to be 150 yards long. Half of those people will not get generators.

I’d like to crowd source a decision tree with pros/cons on what to do, eg, but out early, bug out after, stay throughout, etc., because we’ve been going through the what if’s this whole time. And not much in the way of east answers.
