whether you agree with it or not, i already addressed the whole sweep series. Dame evolved a lot after that series as a player. AD quit on the Pels after that same famed series even after being on the winning end of it.

quote]The Last time the Pels won a series, AD swept Lillard[/quote]

And yet after that series, AD still plotted his escape from New Orleans after a hard fought series against the most talented team of all time in Golden State. Started 4-0 the next season, until he began to sit out with common bruises and when he did play was playing BI level bad in the clutch to the point where it felt like he was point shaving, because AD had been a pretty clutch player up to that point in his career. And then he demanded a trade under the guise that he had no help. Keep in mind this team had AD, Jrue, Niko Mirotic, and Julius Randle.

And on the other hand, Dame buckled down, improved and arguably took a worse Blazers team than the one that was swept to the WCF the next season.

Not really sure what your point is here. He doesn’t have an injury history. Came back and played the best basketball of his career. If anything this goes against your point.

Lillard has no leverage to dictate his landing spot, that is why people need to prepare for how crazy Portland putting him on the market could get.

You really have not been following the NBA if you think that is true. How did Harden do it with 3 years left on his contract? Why would we trade BI and most of our picks if the guy does not want to be here? He could make things even worse in Zion and his family's eyes if he were to come here and be a malcontent. He could certainly influence where he goes.

Shoot JJ got to age 37 before he got cooked.

Granted, he won’t hit making 50M/year, but this is a great point.

If Lillard was put on the market this offseason the dynamics vs the AD trade would be drastically different. AD suppressed the market because he had leverage, so demand for AD and the price teams would pay was limited. Same with Kawh

. The superstar always has leverage

The superstar was Lebron not AD for the trade. Lebron wanted the trade to happened because he was aging. Lakers was more into the corner than the Pelicans. Plus seeing how they missed out on other stars like Leonard benefited the Pelicans edge to trade.

This might be similiar if Zion comes out and tells the office to get Lillard whatever it takes, even if they have to trade Ingram.

BI, Lewis, Bledsoe, Pels 2021 1st, Lakers 2022 1st (unprotected), Pels 2023 1st (protected)
for
Lillard and Covington

Take that protection off and Portland would maybe say yes(assuming they want to stay somewhat competitive and not collect assets ala OKC), I think that is close to where the price would level out given teams like GS, Tor, or PHI will likely have similar levels of value on the table.

Philly and Morey would call tomorrow and offer Simmons plus 4-5 drafts picks/swaps + Maxey + Korkmaz + Curry and whatever they need to make it work.

Tor: probably call and offer the 3rd pick, a combo of 4-5 picks/swaps, plus some negotiated combo of their players.

GS, you’d be foolish to put it past GS to not sayfrick it and put 2 of the 3 most dynamic scoring point guards together and see if they can overwhelm the league. Offering Wiseman, 7, 14, multiple picks and swaps, and whatever salary to match.

Then you have teams like Boston that could go up to and over the line of trading Jaylen(though I don’t think they would go this far). Knicks can offer Barrett, Toppin, Quickley and a truck full of picks to give Thibs his better version of Rose.

Minny can offer Multiple picks(that Portland would likely think have amongst the higher chances of being good down the line), Anthony Edwards, DRuss, and filler.

Pels can beat them all, it’s just do we want to? Because the price will be high.

Why not trade BI and Zo for Dame? Throw in 3-4 firsts if they take Bledsoe/Adams and we get Covington.

I’ve been 100% against retaining Lonzo but if we somehow pulled off a deal for Dame I would like to have Zo back.

That beats your trade..

Oh yes the Blazers will be jumping to get a PG who can't shoot and is afraid to shoot who made Shaq look like Rick Barry from the FT line. And 2 stupid late 1st round picks.

Laugh all you want but you know damn well lakers gave all those picks and players because Lebron demanded AD to get here that season. Just like how Giannis wanted another star and Milwaukee gave us picks for Jrue.

Lillard hasn’t earned a reputation as a toxic locker-room malcontent and playoff under achiever.

Harden suppressed his market because other teams didn’t think he was worth the trouble.

Lillard doesn’t have that rep and so far hasn’t gone that route, the comparison doesn’t hold up.

If BI is going to Blazers in trade then Pelicans better be keeping Kira and a few first! BI and 2 first and a pick swap....

You keep saying this shite but aren’t actually qualifying it.

Not all leverage is the same.

Walk me through what Lillards leverage is here?

Lillard does not and has not sought to foster Harden’s reputation. And if he did, teams still aren’t going to be as scared off.

He doesn’t have a looming FA, so he can’t threaten to not resign and walk to the Lakers/Clippers like AD/Kawhi.

So explain to me this leverage please? Then how that means the Pels will be the beneficiary and give us a lower price?

I just looked it up, Dame would be 34 the last year of his deal I can live with that.

He did. But it wasn’t the organization that pushed the trade it was Lebron who did. He was the one who demanded the lakers to give up whatever it takes for AD to go there.

If Lilliard puts Pelicans on his list. It will be Zion who is going to push for Lillard to join the team not Griffin. Zion is going to be the reason if he wants to trade BI for Dame or keep BI and try to build around.

You have to find

A team he’s willing to play for
With players the blazers want
That can also match salaries

When that is narrowed down it’s not even about a bidding war. It’s about zeroing in on a player & trying to get the best deal possible around that player
