Thanks bro.

The one thing that got me during her treatment: until the moment of sobriety at AAC I had never met my mom......just a twisted version.

The passing of LSUguy13 brought me back to this thread. How’s everyone doing? To the guy that was days into sobriety, how are you holding up? Those first 60 were the toughest for me. I could hit 30 days, but 60 was a whole different level. Hope everyone is well amd would love to read some checkin in’s on this thread. Lots of personal stories told in here. Lots of days strung together.

who's that? sucks to hear.

11.5 months clean here. Every day keeps getting better.

Unfortunately after being around the program I've seen more people that I personally know pass away then I ever have dealt with in my life. Just a reminder of how quickly it can slip away if you don't continue to put in the work.

just finished 45 days at Whispering Oaks Lodge in Lafayette on July 16th... today makes 2 months clean and sober for me...

sucky part is i had over 6 years clean (never considered myself an alcoholic before going to treatment) on my own accord, from 2013 to 2019, but had a few relapses and decided I didn't have all the answers I thought I had...

A few times. I wasted a good ten years of my life doing on again/off again sobriety and that pisses me off. But then again, maybe it took that to get where I am now. But anyways, I have 15 years.

Nice. I watched how someone got sober but he’s tired of having the “sober” attached to him. Does that make sense? Not trying to get in your business but letting go of being “sober” has to be freeing.

kinda like he doesn't want that to define him? That would make sense. You just want the people in your life to treat you normal and go about their normal business when you are around. It sucks when you feel people are walking on egg shells around you.

That is not something to brag about. It is actually pretty sad.

That's some crazy shite baw. Been a few times, IOP and outpatient. Just got my count checked yesterday and Doc said I was in the 8-12 range now compared to 200-300 just under a 120 days ago. Liver was"pickled. "Diagnosed with aseptic necrosis full hip replacement at 35. From shaking back from cirrhosis buddy.

Yeah you gotta nip that one in the bud from the get go. In the beginning I had people not drinking in front of me or acting skittish around me if I walked up on them drinking, like I was gonna fall off the wagon right there. That gets old quick. Every now and then I'll have somebody ask me if it bothers me and I still can't stand that. It's like, do your thing and I'll do mine and we're both still good. I can appreciate the concern but at the same time I never put myself in a predicament in which I can't escape. And it's not so much being around people drinking that bothers me as much as I don't like being around people who are blasted because it's not fun if you're not right there with them. It's annoying, actually. I'm usually in the first wave that goes home from wedding receptions these days. Me, maw maw and paw paw all leave the same time.
