Pain free workout to wrap up the week.

I actually enjoyed the tempo squats.

Finished the stairs for squats, not bad at all. Just starting bench and I feel like I’m not going to complete it. If you fail, should you reset or just chalk it up to a bad session?

ETA: damn, only hit 4 reps on the last stair

Today was a sneaky forearm burnout. After deadlifts and chinups, that cardio superset using dumbbells in each exercise burned my forearms TF out. I had to drop weight on the farmers carry each time from 70s, to 60s, to 50s.

Thought the squats were good. Can really focus on form when you're decending at a snails pace. Added a couple sets of lateral shoulder flys and a couple more sets of curls and I'm done.

One thing I know is I need to do better with my sleep next week.

I struggled last two bench sets also. It's done and will get it next week. Today's tempo squats were not bad after i got loose. Actually felt like it helped me get much deeper in the squat than normal. Now the reverse lunges were hard. Struggled with strength and balance through those. Week1 down. The old man is still hanging

What you bitching about old man?

This old man has been through sheiko, nsuns, and westside... I know when my shoulders are going to be rough from squats. I'm just wise enough to prevent it now.

I snoozed my alarm this morning and didn't make it to the gym. I'm all grumpy and tired this morning because I skipped. I much rather working out before work than after.

I feel you, just wanted to give you a hard time. I will say, within next couple months I’m gonna buy either a duffalo bar or longhorn bar for squats. I have ssb but imo that’s pretty much different exercise

That’s the hardest part for me and the only thing I don’t check off my list on these. I try but usually get closer to 7:00 hours. It’s hard with kids, if I go to bed right after them I barely get my 8 hours.

Hatfield squats on ssb feels very much like a regular squat to me. It's not exact, but its more quad dominant than reg ssb.

Plus, I'll fight you

I am 100% using SSB next week

Nothing wrong with it. I hadn’t put a bar on my back in over 4 months before 2 weeks ago (getting ready for this) because I was afraid to re-injure my shoulder.

I started on the SSB then switched to front squats exclusively. By doing so my core is stronger than ever and I developed enough ankle mobility that I no longer have to wear my lifting shoes and can back squat barefoot.

Also, I think I’m going to hold on to this program and run it exclusively with front squats some time in the spring.

Ok, I may be crazy, but I had to miss yesterday. Doing it right now and on my last step on bench. I think I'm going to run today's program tonight so I can be caught up.

The stairway hasn't been too bad. My legs were more rested and I opted to wear my belt so my back felt better, too.

5 sets of 3 deep squats at 60% sounds doable...right now. Cardio looks like a bitch.

Edit...oh my. 2 sets on tris and they are burning. Went too heavy!

I was actually pretty sore this am when I woke up. Not specifically quad, glute, ham, hips just “legs”. So the weekend of rest will be welcome. Finished up today and as I suspected the weighted reverse lunges were killers.

I might do some shoulders, arms, calf, abs work one day this weekend since they didn’t get much work during the week. Or take a nap. Either or :)

Tempo squats were fine. My back is not agreeing with these chin-up/DL supersets though.

I loved the slow squats. Felt like a slow stretch. More of those please!

Cardio ain’t no joke though.
