Man, wish the Varisty would start scheduling bands again. Anyone know why it doesn't?

My cousin used to play in a band around BR, so I went to the Caterie to see them a lot. Good times.

I don’t remember what the band name was at first but I think at one point it was Rewind.

Had a show this week with Maylene & the Sons of Disaster. They’re booking a decent slate of touring metal bands like Attila.

They are, kind of... it's just not a priority for the remaining owners, as it was the late Tim Hood's pet project... running a music venue is never something that makes accountants happy because it runs similar to a movie theater - the money from the tickets overwhelmingly goes to the talent and the venue takes the concession sales. Since most college students are under 21 these days (though, traditionally, LSU might have students that stick around a bit longer...) that means they can have a packed venue and still barely make any money, unless they charge a few bucks more for people under 21 and negotiate that the venue takes that, which I actually had to do bit when I booked shows at The Spanish Moon..

But don't forget that Chelsea's Live now is close in size to The Varsity, and are probably a little more aggressive in booking touring acts...
