And as much as I hate to say it, I think LSU’s Tiger Stadium is the most iconic college football-only stadium.
Holy shite...
You realize that before 2003 the average sports fan probably couldn't even name LSU's football stadium? Up until the 90s college football only had one or two national games a week. How many times prior to then do you think LSU warranted a national broadcast at home?
Then compare that to; oh, the Rose Bowl, LA Coliseum, Notre Dame Stadium, the old Orange Bowl.
I've got news for you, but The Old Gray Lady - Legion Field - is magnitudes more iconic than LSU's stadium.

The only Chicago teams that I ever liked were Jordan’s Bulls. Screw Chicago. However, Wrigley Field is a treasure like no other.

No other facility can compare to hosting historic events/moments covering such a broad range as MSG
NFL
NBA
NCAA
NHL
Boxing
MMA
Wrestling
Concerts
Political Events
The Pope
Dog Shows
etc.
The Super Dome has done all of the above expect hockey, but the Dome has done football and baseball.

In the South, I would argue Neyland Stadium is at the top of iconic sports venues. Neyland had 100k in the 90's long before the rest of the SEC thought facilities were all that important. Kids from California would commit to Tennessee just to get to play in Neyland.
the place is a total dump
I was supremely disappointed in the place the one time I went there

Physical condition has no bearing on how iconic the stadium is. It's the history, tradition, big moments and how recognizable it is to the general public. The old Orange Bowl was an armpit - and it was great.

LA Memorial Coliseum 2 olympiads SC UCLA Rams
Yankee Stadium the monuments and North America’s most recognizable franchise
Wrigley Field bunch of fake fans who claim to be fans

MSG has basically been around since the advent of recorded music and television. The Superdome can't compete with 80 years of history.

When it is filled with fans whipped up in to a frenzy - there is no stadium in the world that can top Tiger Stadium.

Well, for starters, it hosted one of the first ever games broadcast on ESPN against USC in primetime in 1979.
I don't think it's the most iconic college football stadium, but let's not go overboard here with denigrating the place. It's been a well-known, great college football venue for a long, long time.

They actually have a statue of Brandi Chastain outside the Rose Bowl...
Never knew that.

You were making some decent points until lampooned your statement with this gem.

Some really iconic stadiums, but for me personally, i know it isn't even top 25, but old Cleveland Municipal Stadium has been and will always be the most iconic stadium in my life. I don't think there has ever been a stadium that represented it's city better than the ole Muni. Place was Cleveland through and through. I cried when they tore it down. The Browns have never been the same....
There was just something magical about this place. The nostalgia was in your face. Massive, cavernous, loud, uncomfortable....it embodied the city of Cleveland. Miss her dearly....

Rose bowl held the summer Olympics. That puts it way up there on its own.
Technically, yes, though not the track and field events (those were at the Coliseum).

I'd have to say the LA Coliseum because of the diversity of its history, with Fenway second.
The Coliseum has already hosted 2 Summer Olympics and will be the first venue to host a third in 2028. Also hosted Super Bowl I, as well as the 1959 World Series.
Home to a blue blood college football team, an NFL team for ~40 years plus the Raiders for a decade, the Dodgers (initially) when they moved from Brooklyn, and the Pro Bowl for 20 years. I didn't realize until looking it up that UCLA played their home games there for 50 years.
My initial thought was the Rose Bowl, but I'd argue that the game is more iconic than the actual stadium itself.

I'm not talking best stadiums, I'm talking about iconic...like time capsule this is what American sports was all about.
If this is the criteria, then the Superdome should absolutely be the answer. Aside from being the home of the Saints (and Tulane football for decades), it has hosted:
- SEVEN Super Bowls, with another on the books.
- FOUR NCAAF National Championships, with it now being in the permanent rotation for the playoff.
- The Sugar Bowl since 1974 (Second-oldest bowl game).
- FIVE NCAA Final Fours, including Jordan’s last-second shot to win and the Fab Five time-out game. It is also a regular host site for the tourney.
- NBA games when the Jazz played there, one of which set a then-record for attendance in 1977.
- Ali’s last pro victory against Leon Spinks to win the title in 1978, as well as the famous “No Mas” fight between Sugar Ray and Roberto Duran.
- Two iconic Wrestlemanias.
- Multiple international soccer matches.
- Multiple MLB exhibition games.
How many stadiums can claim to have hosted such a wide array of sports, not to mention the most premier events of said sports? Y’all will say I’m being a homer, but that list is incredible. The highest order in sports entertainment since the mid-1970s, and still going strong.

Rose Bowl is the answer
You can't call the new Yankee Stadium iconic.
Not enough important games held in Wrigley for it to qualify. Finley is overrated, it's a small, cramped stadium next to an interstate. It's only looks good on tv.
