Suffice to say I now know how mrcarton felt in all those Middle East Policy threads

I'm genuinely curious as to why you guys think the president is telling the cdc not to test? Those guidelines don't come from his office.
If you believe the wapo, the contamination of the first set of testing kits is the cause behind the delay.
luckily, it look like starting monday is when the testing will ramp up.
We couldn't risk creating millions of potentially contaminated kits.

From reading the hospital's statement, I have to agree that he didn't meet criteria for testing when he first presented to the ED, unless he had travel or a known exposure that they aren't disclosing.
When he presented to the hospital the second time and was admitted due to his condition, he should have met criteria right then and there.

We're listening. What would you do different to remedy the situation?

Hey dumbass, I never blamed or even mentioned trump.
But for your education, the state health departments get their direction from the CDC.

I know what you mean but damn, I want to see it. Also I’m hoping the veil is being lifted a little for you but this is an exceptional situation.

He didn’t meet criteria. That is correct.
The criteria need to change. I can 100% guarantee you this exact scenario in Kentucky has already happened before.

You can't test every person that wants it.
But isn’t that what the President said?

I am not in medicine so I don't know
but I read in a wapo article that cdc officials determine the testing criteria.
I don't believe the pres or anyone in his cabinet controls that.
I could be wrong though.
I assume the cdc is given wide discretionary power to deal with outbreaks.

You went after trump in your first reply to this thread.
I don't care if you want to praise trump for the handling of it or trash him for his handling, I don't get why we can't discuss the outbreak and cdc handling of it without invoking the pres.
I want to see discussion about the outbreak, not your opinion on him.

Topping a week of conflicting statements from the administration about how many tests the U.S. is now able to administer for the coronavirus, President Donald Trump on Friday told reporters at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta that “anybody who wants a test gets a test.”
U.S. health officials started the week by defending themselves to members of Congress for a shortage of tests across the country. That shortage, along with tight restrictions from the CDC on who could be tested, allowed infected people to go undetected and further spread it, say health experts.
