I know there are a few of us traveling to Amsterdam this month. Are yall still planning on going? The Netherlands is up to 38 cases and growing everyday but none in Amsterdam.

We leave on the 24th. Couple people in the group are getting a little nervous but no real option to change without losing alot of money. My only fear is the Netherlands having an Italy level outbreak while there.

Freak out and watch the map like I do. I'm supposed to be there April 19th. We're on the fence honestly. But Amsterdam has a very small percent. So far.

This 'ish is everywhere. Whatcha gonna do?

Going to be there in April. No cases in Amsterdam yet. I have no plans to change at this time but we will see I guess.

I saw $400 flights for Amsterdam yesterday. I wish I had the time off.

We are still on the fence. Will make the call in a couple weeks.

My bigger fear is being quarantined back home for 2-3 weeks after we return. I’ve got a lot of PTO but sure don’t wanna use it for that.

This was my driving factor.

I feel like I should be more concerned about my trip next month.

I don’t want to be a jerk, but this will absolutely happen. Many Chinese owned businesses in Amsterdam, many Iranians, public transport is heavily utilized, rampant prostitution, tons of germs at coffeehouses (where even the well cough) and not much hygiene or order around Amsterdam. Keukenhof season will heighten these issues. I’m sorry you’ll lose money, but why not do a cheap staycation with your friends? The person with the biggest house hosts, everyone else contributes a great meal. If y’all are a bit young for large home ownership, choose a remote campsite or cabin in a weed-friendly state.

Wow on so many levels to this response. Should have stopped your response before you started it.

Sorry you have a negative opinion of a beautiful country full of history.

Also, the fact that you "think" I can't afford "large home ownership" and that a remote cabin stay in "weed friendly" area compares to a trip to Amsterdam.

Wow. To begin with, I never expressed a negative opinion of the country. I don’t think Chinese people or Iranians are negative- they are simply from countries with large outbreaks. Similarly, I’m a big fan of the European train system and the Keukenhof Gardens, but they will augment the spread of disease.

Second, I don’t think anything about you personally. I simply didn’t know if you and your friends were of an age/position to own a large home that would be fun for a substitute gathering. Sorry for not stalking your posts to get to know you better.

Third, I don’t think such a trip compares, but it avoids the issue of quarantines, flights cancellations, and possibly spreading infection. In other words, I was trying to help.

I’m a woman but thanks for playing. Interestingly, I recall little about you. Did I castrate you in another forum or something? Yes, my nuanced posts about the Middle East certainly betray an intolerant and short-sighted view of the world (eye roll). This is such a random attack.

FWW, Amsterdam is badass, but everything I said is 100% true. If you think I’m a moron, prove me wrong.

I may have overreacted to your post but you still assumed things about me and my trip.

With that being said this post was not made for arguing it was made because I know there are several posters traveling to Amsterdam this month and we are all in the same boat.

Apology accepted. I merely don’t know you or your circumstances very well, and wanted to come up with an idea that was doable from multiple backgrounds. Amsterdam really is cool, but I would wait. It’s my honest advice- no doom and gloom, nothing against the city, I just think a widespread infection is extremely possible and could pose a threat to your safe and hassle-free travels. I hope you and your friends have a good time with whatever you end up doing. Cheers man

Or trying to convey a relevant fact about their background without giving away too much personal information. Frick off

ETA: having credentials in my user name is supposed to keep 30k/year ballers like yourself (wannabe investor) from responding to reasonable posts in this manner (as you did to a poster recently- I’m guessing out of hysteria that you called it wrong on Covid market effects). Tiger De Baiter in bold:

quote:

hope you're right but I don't see it. The numbers are too consistent. Even for the Diamond Princess where everyone was quarantined and tested extensively the death rate is 6 out of 700 in as good a health system as Japan. And who the frick are you? Why would you see anything
