That look you give when you were supposed to go to a Pelicans game but your parents took you to the Comus Ball to be a page instead #RexComus https://t.co/m4HDJlghKn

I told y’all, that’s my Mardi Gras night tradition to watch this and fall asleep. My wife and I laugh, cry and fall asleep bc we see so many people we know that look just absolutely miserable I just woke up and caught the end, it’s such a train wreck and just about everyone I know that attends says the same thing.

Has technology ruined this? It had to have been better when no one knew how weird it is.

Watching my DVR copy. There is not much I would not do to be a member of Rex or Comus.

Its been live on local/state public television for years. But most people who watched it didn't take it any more seriously than any other Mardi Gras traditions such as riding horses or chasing chickens and hogs in the country, it was just silly dress-up for rich white people.

I agree, now that its available on the web and everyone can take notice it still makes me laugh and mock, but now I also feel weird and icky. I was invited to the Rex ball once and didn't go due to family commitments. I said if I had the chance again I would, but now I'm not so sure. I definitely would not be caught on TV doing the procession/bow thing, some would definitely screenshot that for blackmail.

FYI, I'm convinced one of the reasons WYES has a really large endowment for a public TV station, especially based on this TV Market size is all of the Rex/Comus people give more than generously than they normally might since they show the ball.
