Chase and Marshall will be your top two receivers next year. Jefferson will be a solid slot guy but he won’t repeat as the go to guy.

Its amazing how fans can be so biased about their own team. I would have sworn we had more drops than anyone

Not really biased. I am sure most don't watch enough of the other teams to have perspective on this.

When drops come on big plays, ie 3rd downs, TDs, or 20+ yd plays, it will always be magnified. And this was definitely the case this year with LSU

Was not the Drops...it was WR's failing to get consistent separation.

It wasn't how many drops that I complained about. It was the timing of the drops!
I've never been a fan of drops no matter the timing. Maybe "whew glad he didn't catch that" on behind LOS swings, screens, etc, with obvious loss.

I know he can't catch the ball for them, but how does the Tennessee WR coach still have his job?

So this data tells us what percentage of incomplete passes were due to drops.

Useful, but context would be better served to also know
- the absolute number of incompletions and drops
- the total number of attempts and the percentage of total attempts that were drops

A quarterback that went 10 for 13 with 2 drops would have a 66% drop/incompletion rate, while going 3 for 13 with the same 2 drops would have only a 20% drop/incompletion rate, wildly different results despite the same number of drops per attempt

Worth note: Burrow was third in incompletions, so there may have been a similar volume of total drops.

Is there a stat for clutch or crucial drops? And by starters you want to depend on?

Buckeye Jeaux gon be very pissed.

I thought he would have committed suicide based on the season Haskins had vs Burrow.

You're not allowed to answer questions this way on the rant. Things are either good or bad.

Out of sync, or not throwing them open is a possibility. Whens and wheres on completions.

Theoretically correct. Statistically not very realistic based on the incompletion rates being within 10% on most QBs not named Tua.

Your example has a guy completing 23% of his passes versus a guy completing 76%.

This thread merely supports the fact that Burrow probably did not experience a level of support by his receivers that was any different, in fact it was probably better, than the rest of the SEC QBs.

Burrow had a lot of room to improve, he made huge strides.

Gee I thought our receivers sucked and our WR coach needed to be fired. Of course that's according to the Rant.

Anyone saying anything about the talent level being down on this team is just full of shite and want to put blame anywhere they can except for the one guy that deserves it. The Head Coach.

Not necessarily.. How many of his incompletions were due to him throwing it out of bounds???

When we have that percentage along with the dropped stat then lets revisit this question...

When I look at receiving rankings in the SEC, we've only got one guy in the top 50, where everybody else has multiple people. Seems like that would be better if our receivers were actually catching the ball so well.

SEC Receiving stats.

I dont know how they defined dropped passes, but dropping even 10% of passes (how I define drops) would have gotten both my hands cut off when I played.

I'm so in disbelief that I need to see the methodology. Would have never guessed this
