OK so it was all scheme, not Guice, Chark, Sr. QB with multiple years starting, veteran OL with one first year starter (Charles). It had nothing to do with all that, right?

ETA: Saban hasn't seen before.

Reason #1

Reason #2

Reason #3

...and we're probably ranked even closer to the bottom half of the SEC if it wasnt for the 7 OT game against A&M.

It’s incredible how bad Auburn and Mississippi State were on offense this season and yet LSU barely edges them in total offense.

One thing I do find interesting is that we let Dave Aranda gradually install his defense and really expected a lot more in year 2 and 3. I'm curious to see the direction of the offense going into next season just as I was excited to see what Aranda was able to do in the trajectory of the defense.

I don't think Ensminger is Aranda, but we should at least give them the same benefit of the doubt here.

What’s incredible is 2018’s offense scored more than 2017’s offense (adjusted to remove OT, defensive scores, and special teams scores) and had almost as many yards per game despite losing all of their playmakers and 4 of that starting 5 OL.

REALLY?

1. Promised the best coordinators, is he?
2. Mediocre/avg OC at best
3. Failed as an OC at previous stops...decades ago
4. Fails at in game adjustments
5. Never had an offensive Identity

SE is a Great Tiger and Good coach, not sure of too many people that want him fired and no longer on Staff. What I see and what most others are saying is that he is not the answer as OC! If any other program in the SEC, that has had the same offensive problems as LSU the past 10 years were to make this type of hire, you would have laughed. Take the P&G glasses off and call a spade a spade!

U fortunately one of the issues was WR understanding the plays and audibles.

Bama runs 3 basic route schemes. They run the same three from many many formations. They give the QB time to throw. Usually. Makes all the difference.

Clemson gave Lawrence time to throw. Again makes a huge difference.

Clemson was able to get some pressure on Tua. Huge difference.

If you don’t understand “the knock on Steve Ensminger “ you are the problem! He’s a mediocre offensive play caller at best. If winning 8-9 games a year and making it to the Cap 1 bowl is ok with you, then you have your guy. To not crack the top 50 in any meaningful offensive category is unacceptable with the level of talent on LSUs roster. If O doesn’t step out of his comfort zone and find an up and coming innovative offensive mind as an OC it will be the beginning of the end for him...

On top of all that the coaches said that they had communication issues and couldn't call audibles at the line of scrimmage because people didn't know what to do.

You know, there's merit to some of the problems and excuses, but not this one. If you can't coordinate communication skills to call a damnn audible, WTF? This isn't middle school football.

The overall stats leveled out because we poured it in in the last 3 games, but basically through Arkansas the offense was terrible.putside the UGA game.

We were terrible in the redzone and showed 0 creativity there.

We were 91st in YPC.

Realistically it will get better, the concern is how much better?

3/4 of the teams in the CFP had top 5 offenses.

Next year feels like a year we can really do something, but the offense needs to make a huge leap otherwise we’ll be Notre Dame this year.

Steve said we had talent at the wr position and we were going to use that. Took him 13 games to figure it out.

You're going to get a lot of result posts. Those that actually watched the games can't really criticize because there was nothing really wrong with the scheme. The real idiots will say we ran things we didn't and ignore the fact that Steve installed what most fans wanted.

Well, there's nothing "wrong" with any scheme, per se. Any scheme can work and has worked at some point. That's why it's being done.

If you need star players to make your scheme work, then that's a problem.

He produced the eighth best O in the SEC and it only reached that level after a 7 OT game and playing one of the worst defenses in college football in the bowl game.

When your OC produces a O that’s overall worse than the one the OC you fired 3 years ago, it’s a pretty major problem. It’s not all on Steve. Steve is our 3rd OC since 2016. That in and of itself causes problems. But he’s paid to produce an affective and efficient O. He failed to do that for whatever the reason and therefore he’s going to catch some grief.

Hopefully in his second year, our offense can do better. Seems like I’ve been saying that for about five years.

How can you not understand.

He is paid to coordinate an offense. The offense was bad at times this year.

Forget all the reasons why, injury, inexperience, bad fortune, tough schedule, new QB....etc.

In the vastness of college football the challenges LSU faced are not unique. And when you look at the performance of HIS offense, then you could not have been that impressed.

We did see some improvement. That is wonderful. I dont even want him fired but to say you dont understand the criticism is crazy. You can disagree with the criticism, but there is a pretty good reason it exists.

not sure why all the down votes..

agree, when you look at the bigger picture, he did Ok...
#1 he had a make shift line
#2 he had no RB
#3 his Strengths (WR's) were very green
#4 he had a brand new QB with not much experience
#5 new offensive system they all had to learn

it really wasnt all that bad, but next year there isnt one excuse, he litterally returns everyone and the offense should be fully implemented... Work on the screen game and let them big dogs fight for the ball in the corner of the endzone for the redzone offense... everything else will take care of itself... My personal opinoin... I want to see the offensive players having fun... make the offense as fun as it can be. period...
