And if LSU hadn't lost 22 scholarship players via suspension or injury by the UF game in 12. LSU wins that one.

No other coach could have pulled that off, yet we keep giving excuses to the current coaching staff.

And lost 23-10! That game absolutely could have been a win for LSU!

Great post about the Oklahoma State game. Very true - it was a fateful game. Alabama pulled a similar stunt last year, i.e., lost to the best team they played, didn't win their own division, and backdoored their way into a playoff championship. I empathize with Georgia in that respect.

And it all goes to shite because it was eventually justified. They won it all on both occasions. On the flip side, you could argue that auburn got boned harder than anybody last year. Went 2-2 against 3 of the 4 playoff teams. Beat both the teams that faced off in the championship. They were basically penalized for playing a harder schedule than most and an extra game that one special team didn’t even qualify for.

Also, imagine if Oklahoma and Ohio state didn’t play eachother last year... they both get in over bama. Love that bama won it though honestly. Makes it even more ambiguous, and UGA had to play a team they thought they escaped for yet another year

Would've been the greatest season in the history of college football. LSU beat two other BCS bowl winners.

It already is. No one cares about the stupid exhibition.

I remember the game well. We had some unfortunate calls go against us but my take is always adapt and overcome and we had several opportunities to do that...it's a game we should have won.

All the things you mentioned were examples, we also had a guy in their punters grill and to this day I can't understand how he did not block that punt.

And Tebow got so much shine off that jump pass that floated like a balloon up there for 10 seconds it made me nauseous.

Florida then scores twice and we trail 16-7 at half time. If that team had championship mettle, we overcome a few first quarter bad breaks. But in reality, that Florida defense was outstanding and put handcuffs on us in the second half. Jamarcus throws two second half interceptions. We miss a field goal.

Everyone always talks about the JaMarcus fumble and the Hester TD calked back.

But holy shite I’ve never felt a more gut wrenching twist than Early fumbling the kickoff out of halftime and recovering it in the end zone for a safety.

I mean WHAT THE frick???

We were only down 14-7 despite all of the miscues in the first half, getting the ball, and all of a sudden it’s 16-7 and we are kicking off to Florida and giving them a short field.

Five plays out of halftime and Tebow throws the long TD pass to Murphy and its 23-7, and we never got anything going again, game over.

That Doucet kickoff fumble was the dagger in that game, similar to Odell’s muffed punt against UGA in 2013.

Just absolutely devastating miscues.

a bunch of head scratching plays in the second and third quarter... definitely one of the worst games I ever watched but it's interesting to watch

We were also two plays away from losing to Tenn and to Orgeron's 3-7 ole miss squad.

I was at that Ole Miss game. Gol lee those Jamarcus teams for some reason, they just wouldn't flip the switch until they absolutely HAD to. We had a bunch of come from behind wins with him.

We would sleep walk a good bit and when our back was against the wall, the offense would wake up and go score. We scored 13 4th quarter points vs Ole Miss that night. It went into overtime.

Ole Miss had some good players too, like Patrick Willis and Greg Hardy.

remember that play that jamarcus was scrambling and threw it about 50 yards down the field on the run and Early came out of no where and caught it over two ole miss DBs? it was late in the game i believe

I would think, considering Arkansas won the West that year.

LSU played that game like the football version of Keystone cops. If I hadn’t been so traumatized by the results, I would’ve laughed.

He was, but we lost two starting tackles, and lonergan was in at first at c, but was pulled for his back spasms. He missed multiple games that season.

Kwon broke his ankle during that game as well.

I still think it's amazing that staff held that season together and still had bama on the ropes.

Les hired Gary Crowton as his replacement.

In fairness ot seemed like a good hire at the time and in fact worked out at first.

Crowton looked like Mike Leach when he was at LA Tech. In hindsight Tim Rattay had a LOT to do with that, but nonetheless it wasn't a bad hire on paper at the time.

Really the 2006 team was the most solid of any modern era Tiger team, except for 2011. That 2006 team was MUCH better defensively than 2007; what that team lacked was good fortune.

There were questionable calls in both the Auburn and Florida games that year. And, several unforced errors vs Florida. I still can't believe LSU lost that game to Auburn. We were a much better team than them that year, but at least two bad calls prevented a Tiger win: of course the infamous pass interference no-call, and a doubtful non-catch by an LSU receiver in the first half.

The most egregious IMHO was the no-call when the Auburn DB was all over Lafell in the end zone towards the end of the first half.

2011 team was the most unfortunate CFB team ever. It doesn't get any unluckier than having to replay the hardest game on your schedule thanks to your projected opponent in the national title game losing as a 28-point favorite.
