Bit my nails for as long as I can remember. I would literally bite them so much they would bleed. It was a habit I picked up from my dad. So when I had kids I wanted to kick the habit. I bought the Barielle nail polish stuff from CVS and 4 years later I don't bite them anymore. That stuff has an awful fricking taste. Its so bad that when you wash your hair it gets in your mouth from the water running off your head. It works.

Don't use toilet paper the next time you wipe. Go ahead and wash your hands afterwards and then ponder on if you really need to bite them that bad or not. I know it's a little drastic but something tells me it will work once you get that "image" in your mind.

Watch reruns of Houston Nutt on the sidelines coaching. Pretty embarrassing being a recovered biter myself.

I worked in the Bakken for a month, before getting hurt. Haven't habitually chewed on them since.

Use your bare hands to wipe your arse after taking a shite. It won't be any time before you have stopped biting your nails.

When you wipe your arse smear a little shite on each nail, you'll stop.

Google search "pull finger nails off" then click images.

That will make your interest in having nails at least a peg or two higher.

You're like the 6th person in this thread that has suggested this.

And no it doesn't make you quit. All it does is make the fingernails taste more "earthy".

First, I'd recommend spelling recommend differently.

Second, I stopped about 8 years back using acrylic overlays on my nails. I played cards with an Asian nail salon owner who recommended it as a method of quitting. It took about 3 months, but trying to bite hard arse, acrylic nails made me notice when I was biting them, which led to me stopping myself more often.

Psa: don't get the shiny clear polish on your overlays...it looks kind of fruity.

Yes, I got a manicure and pedicure with my wife a few times and during that time completely stopped biting them. It was hard as hell to cut them the first few times with my off hand since I had never done it.

Screw any haters, mani/pedis are amazing.

I quit with the one nail at a time method. I started with my right thumb and kept biting the others. Eventually, I didn't even think about biting my thumb nail anymore. Moved on to my right index, left thumb, left index, etc... I only bite my left little finger nail now. Worked well for me but took some time. I found that once they grew out and were strong, I didn't want to bite them anymore. Being able to actually scratch myself was an awesome benefit too! I will probably always bite that last nail though. I had been biting my nails for close to 30 years when I stopped.

well, if you bit your nails after wiping your arse with them, there really is no hope for you.

maybe amputate the fingers at the first knuckle?

Put a rubber band around your wrist and snap it when inclined to perpetuate this habit. Its a mental note of saying don't do this.

Sad to say, but cured me years ago.
