What the frick are you talking about? May be one of the worst storms to ever hit Florida. Bahamas and other islands arent going to weaken this storm that much. Still a lot of warm water over there.

ever experienced a hurricane? does great weather the next day mean no damage & power outages left in the hurricanes wake? Also do you think universities will take teams into hurricane warning areas for a football game? no way

I live in Orlando and have three tickets. I just cancelled my trip. There's no way this game can be safely played with that weather. It's not worth getting killed.

I hope it's moved to LSU.

I'm supposed to land in Tampa at about noon on Friday. I think I'm screwed.

Possibility of a second storm as well. No idea where or when this storm will have an impact.

There was the little thingy in 2005 that makes me think differently.

You do understand that hurricanes leave destruction behind them, right?

The forecast track has shifted slightly West again but it appears to have sped up a little also.

I wouldn't expect that we see any decision made on a change of venue before tomorrow.

The eastern barrier islands will be evacuated. That's a massive amount of people who will all be headed west. The highway system will be a nightmare. We're talking about 1/3 of the states population being evacuated.

I would not come if I were you. I'm not willing to drive 100 miles. In 2004 when we were hit by several storms, it was impossible to get anywhere. This storm is much larger than any of those.

I'm from St. Petersburg. Where are the islands that are being evacuated? Just curious.

I guess I would go to St. Pete anyway and visit family even if I for some reason can't make it to Gainesville.

Here's the latest coverage from a South-Florida news station - click on the video embedded in the web page (about 9 minutes long).

Matthew is no joke, and I don't see Gainesville committing or having the resources to host a football game the morning after a Cat 3 hurricane blows through. Watch the video.

And I would think the drive up to Gainesville would also be all right. Just wondering how this would affect my traffic to G Ville
