Each European country has it's own league. The top teams in each of these leagues get to compete in the Champions League. That's how teams like Arsenal and Barcalona get to play each other. Is this correct? Also a few more questions:

Yes each member country of UEFA that has a pro league is a participant. UEFA uses a formula to determine how many teams from each league get to participate (and if they are auto qualify into the group stage or have to play a play-in)

What is the name of Spain's league? This is where teams like Real Madrid and Barcalona play, correct?

Is Champions league played every year?

Yes. Starts in August/September with play in round, then group stages in the fall, then knock out rounds which are going on right now culminating in final usually last weekend of May

What's the name of the cup / trophy? I'm assuming that this should be considered top honors for a club to win, right?

European Champion Clubs' Cup

Yes it is considered the top trophy a club team can win

thanks guys.

A little off the subject, but still regarding soccer. What qualifies a player to represent a country in the world cup? Birth? Current resident? Or pick what you want?
