I'm proud that LSU fans aren't asking for Sylvester Croom (like last time, not a defensive guy) and Jim Tressel (under a ban, also not a defensive guy). We've come a long way.

lol at Grantham's wiki page

quote:

Todd Grantham (born September 13, 1966) is the defensive coordinator for the Louisville Cardinals. He was hired on Jan. 12, 2014. Georgia fans and players rejoiced his departure, as they were relieved to not be burdened by his terrible coaching and play-calling ability. Considered best DC in UGA history[1]

IMO that would be a home run hire.

Soooooo, why the frick would a current DC of one of the nastiest defenses in the NFL go down to the collegiate level to take the same position? This is just silly.

Dang Elko looks like he is in his mid 40's. Guy isnt 38 yet.

Nice resume though!

Quote from the link

quote:

Elko's Bowling Green defense excelled at forcing turnovers and stopping opponents on third down. Over his five seasons as defensive coordinator, the Falcons forced 106 turnovers or 1.7 per game. Bowling Green held opponents to just 35.9 percent third down conversions over those five seasons. In both 2012 and 2013, the Falcons ranked in the top 10 in the nation in both total defense and scoring defense.

The 2012 season was a banner year for the BGSU defense, finishing the season ranked sixth in the country in total defense (296.6) and 10th in scoring (16.7). The Falcons held the opposition to under 100 yards rushing in nine contests as the Falcons had six different players earn All-MAC Honors, including three first-team members (Chris Jones, Gabe Martin, BooBoo Gates). Jones would go on to be named a first-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).

The 2012 defense would finish as the fourth-best third down defense in the nation, allowing a first down on just 28.1 percent of the time. Their fourth down defense was just as good, finishing fifth in the country at 26.3 percent. They would end the season ranked 11th in sacks (38), 12th in rushing defense (106.5), 13th in pass defense (190.1) and fifth in first downs allowed (15.1). All of this was accomplished with just two senior starters.

would he even be in Carolina right now? they play Seattle in like 30 hours.

even if he was, unlike that dickhead chief, I doubt he has time for an interview right now.

Dave Huxtsable seems to have been promoted to DC at most of his stops. That looks good.

Dont know anything else about him.

This fails the "ignore the name". Football fans know who Sean McDermott is and they definitely wouldn't need to look at his resume to know that hiring a NFL DC of a playoff team would be a good hire.

DC in 2014 means that we aren't getting an NFL guy, IMO.

Only on an LSU board would this not go without needing to be said.

That's why it isn't him. Hannagriff would be selling this entirely differently if it were him. He'd be selling it as "a home run".

He also woudn't be a guy on a "finalist" list. He's a target and hire type of guy.
