I've thought the same but the other way around. It would complete Jaime's transformation if he sacrificed his life for Brienne.
Now I don't want that because brienne annoys me about as much as dany but GRRM hates me so.....

I don't mind Brienne. I enjoyed her and Jamie's journey together if for no other reason then peeling the layers off Jamie for us to see what he's really about.
UnCat needs to die for real this time though. Maybe Gendry can make it happen.
I don't think Jamie dies that soon though. He has unfinished business with his count of a sister. Remember Maggy the Frog's visions:
