I think money is the least of his concerns. I think he wants the end of his magnum opus to be worthy of the beginning and can’t get it right, especially since the ending of the show was unpopular, the pressure is even worse. Probably what seemed to work fine in a sketched out version of the story doesn’t come together well with all the characters and plots fully fleshed out. I would rather him never release an ending than to release a half-assed one.

Which is fine but he seems to not even be working on it. He'll have plenty of time for red carpet stuff, working on spinoffs and video games, etc. but doesn't look like he even tries with WoW.

I could not disagree any more. I would much rather a finished product than get 5/7 books. No matter what, it's probably not going to live up to expectations, that's ok, tons of series do that. But they at least are a finished story. If books 6 and 7 are two of the weakest of the series, it's still going to be a good series overall. I respect someone for at least finishing a project and giving the fans something, than someone who goes decades and never cares to put in the work and leaving a story with nothing resolved.
