The schadenfreude involved in this same thread on the secr is too delicious. Warning: prepare yourself for delusional Bammer arguments that include some people think the "scoreboard" determines who the better team is.

Steele always had a boner for Bama

Why these people love Bama so much is a mystery to me. They are basically an insufferable fan base in a little podunk town that is not media friendly and does not like Northerners and ESPN media types.

In the case of PS, he is not a "fan" . He picked them because he thought they were the best team at the start of the season (not unreasonable), so he sticks with his picks.

That is one of those brainteasers that I believe pseudo-intellectuals think puts someone in an unwinnable situation but it is quite easy. Two points: when they played obviously Kentucky was better that day, they won. Point two: The bcs takes the two best resumes. If you are asking did uk deserve to play OSU, obviously not. Let me ask you this, if someone says a losing team is the "better" team, how else would one quantify it if not by the scoreboard?

Its no such thing, seems you are reading into the situation way too much.

The "best team" does not win every game. A sample size of 1 does not prove anything. UK and Arky were not better teams than LSU in 2007. They were however good teams with talent capable of beating LSU as they did, but LSU was still a better team as evidenced by the entire season.

In the case of 2011 LSU and Alabama last week, those are 2 exteremly evenly matched teams. My guess if they played 100 times it would be pretty close to 50-50.

but the boarder point is the result (or scoreboard) of one game proves nothing but who won that one game. Since they will not play 100 times or best of 7, its winner take all, and in this case that is LSU

Not what I was asking at all.

That would vary from situation, to situation. In the case of 07 LSU vs UK, Its because LSU had clearly better personel and finsihed the regular season 11-2, winning the SEC, while UK went 8-4 or 7-5 (I forget).

You can't have it both ways though. you can't use score board sometimes and not others. That's why I don't.

FTR, as to whose "better" out of LSU and Bama this year, its what I like to call a Mary-anne vs Ginger debate. Who cares, both are great and evenly matched. LSU won, so we control our own destiny in terms of winning the SEC and BCS Titles. We got the W, they can have the "moral" victory if it makes them feel better. Me, I'll lick their tears of sorrow like Cartman on Scott Tinnerman.
