Took my 8 year old son, wife and step son camping twice in a month. A first for all of us together. We fished, roasted hot dogs, smores, went snipe hunting ( at just 8 he didn't buy much of it, but we got him a little bit), and caught a mess of fish each time.

Memories man

Won my first disc golf tournament in the beginners level. Moving on up!

Looking forward to a break from baseball and soccer to go sweat in the woods for a few days.

For about 6 weeks no I have been fighting the good fight against weeds in the yard for about an hour most evenings after work. My wife bought a "Grandpas Weeder" for her to use (nod nod wink wink we both knew exactly who it was meant for if anyone was going to use it). Its very cathartic and yard looks so good I actually turned the sprinklers on and edged it properly this weekend. I know that sounds boring as hell but its far better than vegging out in front of the TV for an hour every evening.....

One of my kids invited me to go fish at a local pond with him. I accepted and taught him how to use a baitcaster. He was a natural and might not pick up his Zebco again.

We didn’t catch anything but it was a good day.

Thanks to all the late season rain we've paddled warm water on Short, Saulty, Town, Mulberry, and Locust Fork in short pants and sun shirts. Usually it's dry-suits and cold water.

Two weeks of these type of days will spoil you (good).

I got to do something similar with some out of the country teammates in college. We had some guys from Sweden, Germany, Brazil, and Spain on my college team.

Well one year during a hurricane that knocked out power, they had nowhere to stay. So I told them my parents house had room and power and to come stay until school got power back.

Some of them had never even seen a firearm and thought of them to be the devil. Well we got bored at the house one day so we asked if they wanted to shoot one of our hunting rifles (a little big of a caliber to shoot for your first time I know).

They were hesitant at first, but my family shot a few first and they eventually worked up the courage to do so.

The way they looked and acted after was something that made me swell with American pride they were amazed, and also proud of their accomplishments!

They were very thanful for the opportunity. My dad and I were talking about it afterwards and we were saying how they would never forget that in their life because when my friends were done with college, their plan was to go back to their home countries and this would be the only opportunity to shoot guns in their life.

My 6 year old and I fished off the dock and smoked the catfish. He redled in a 6 pound channel all by himself. Then Sunday we took out my flat boat. It was the first time the boat had been on the lake I grew up on in 20 years. I took the boat with me when I moved to La and brought her back when I moved back home. Great time and great to be back home.

My wife when we met, couldn't believe that I had these things that she had only seen on video games.
She liked it. Especially learning the AR.

I wanted to make something like a memorial to remember my younger brother who died in December of last year, so I had a wild hair up my arse and bought an aquarium. This was one of the last pictures of him fishing with my older brother.

He foul hooked a goggleye.

I went fishing this past Sunday determined to catch a goggleye to put in the aquarium. After a couple of hours fishing, with no luck, I was just about to quit, when I said out loud, "Come on Lee, hook me up".

Pow, caught a damn goggleye.

So I took his picture and taped it to the back of the aquarium and named the fish GoggleLee.

that's a great story. Sounds like you and your brother were really close.

Oldest of 3 sons and I went Turkey Hunting in New Mexico. He loves the mountains as I do. Trip got cancelled early due to I had an accident but oh the memories will live forever. Have another couple months to heal just before we hopefully head back to the mountains for elk season.
