I hope he is able to sue the state for a blistering amount.
I have no idea if Murphy can be criminally charged with Malfeasance in New Jersey, nor what the penalty for it is, but I hope he can and there's some definite prison time involved in the sentence (even if the verdict comes down after he's left office). Until/Unless politicians are held to some meaningful level of accountability, such abuses of power will crop up again at the next opportunity.

I bet that there was an agreement that he would not pursue malicious prosecution or wrongful seizure claims. My guess is he probably got eay more than that $165k

Police will always say "we're just following orders". Remember that

I truly don’t remember many on this board being pro lockdown besides Spleen, c on z, and a few others I can’t recall
Spleen was by far the worst. There was another guy that was t exactly pro lockdown but he definitely questioned the frick out of everyone who said to open up. Not a dumb guy either. Think his name started with a K

Is he the guy who has a DUI manslaughter conviction, and posts almost Nazi-like anti-Jewish stuff on Twitter? As much as I hate COVID lockdowns, he ended up being the worst possible figure for the anti-lockdown movement.
In fact, I'm half-convinced that the pro-lockdown people targeted him rather than some other business owner who disobeyed lockdowns just because they wanted Ian Smith to be the figure of the anti-lockdown movement.

I found the cognitive dissonance. Imagine how it must feel to be you, mainlining Government soy and still unable to reckon with what your need to OBEY has wrought.

Well, they got the opposite result. He is now a sympathetic figure.

I doubt it. This was included in the guy's statement on Xwitter:

This victory opens the battlefield again and gives us options to continue to push back and bring justice to the treasonous actions of Phil Murphy and his lackies.

Maybe the cops should have refused an unconstitutional order in the first place
It's what they do. Happens time and time again over history. They live to be the enforcement go-to of authoritarians.

I know we get a hard on for anti covid figure heads but seriously frick this guy. Killed a 19 year old while drunk driving. Couple years ago, since he didn't learn his lesson, got arrested for drunk driving again, but the charges were dismissed.

Now, give him his money back......with interest.
This is one of my biggest problems with this situation and other situations where it’s clear that idiotic government caused financial stress/suffering to someone. Individuals were responsible for this but they will never be held personally accountable to any meaningful extent. The aggrieved party may get a pay out and that payout will come from some taxpayer fund and now that allocation in the budget will suffer.

That's unfortunate. Now, listen closely......
I do not care about any of that. In no way does it diminish his situation which is directly attributable to an overreach of government authority. I don't have to break bread with him or let him stay at my house when he's in town.

I agree, even though my demand was for the government to give the man HIS money back, the money that they stole from HIM under the guise of some bullshite civil asset forfeiture law, no doubt.
Any damages done to him, his business, or his business partners is a separate issue. The government needs to give him HIS money back with interest.

It looks like in his case, The State has now failed three times.

That's why they are cops to begin with.
They are tories.
