1 -The Line of Scrimmage and 1st down line markers in football broadcasts.

2 - Golf tracer in golf.

--------------------------------------
Grew up before these were things. It makes watching these sports so much better.

Can't think of anything else that makes watching a sport more enjoyable.

I couldn't imagine watching a football game without that yellow line across the field.. and it's so nice actually getting to see ball flight during golf tournaments. Hate watching tournaments without it now.

Also, not an 'invention', but leaving the score and clock on the screen.

Was such a pain growing up in the 70s and 80s. No score bug on the screen sucked.

They need to come up with options like which camera angle and "no announcer" and "ball tracking" and "player tracking"

I'd love the option to mute the announcers and just have the crowd and field mics as the only sound

And the rationale for not having it sooner was because the networks thought that if the viewer saw it was a blowout, they’d immediately change the channel.

While the picture wasn't great, the picture wasn't as bad as it appears on today's digital screens. The way the cathode rays would scan the lines and render the picture doesn't reproduce well on modern equipment. Add to that, you're looking at remastered tape recordings where there a lot of degradation. Older video games are much the same way. If you play an old Nintendo game on a digital screen the graphics are actually worse. If you find an old CRT screen they'll look better because of how the colors blend and the the edges of the pixels won't be as harsh.

What you see on Youtube is the equivalent of watching a copy of a copy on a non-native platform. Don't get me wrong, the picture wasn't good, but it's not as bad as the surviving recordings make it seem.

I hate the strike zone box. Use it for replay on a close/questionable pitch but hate it while I’m watching the game

I'd say this is even a bigger game changer than the golf tracker.

Looking back, it was absurd to force fans to watch the game literally without know how much time was on the clock....which was an integral part of the game.

The long held belief by the networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) was if people knew the game was a blowout they would turn off the game. Thus, they purposely wanted to keep viewers in the dark about what was going on. Thank God an innovated network like Fox came around to change that absurdity.

The ability to stream the radio broadcast anywhere in the world.

Nothing better than syncing the radio broadcast up with the game on TV with the TV on “mute”.

which camera

click on a player on the screen and get their POV would be bad arse.

Couldn't be THAT hard to do.

I mean, even Augusta National agreed to allow the shot tracer.

No has used the glowing puck in decades.

I wish there were an easier way to watch the game and listen to Hoss and Deuce.
