There's one almost universal truth I have found with all runners. Whether it's for competition, physical or mental health what gets most people running and keeps them running is the person they're running from; their old self.

For some its running from addiction; food, drugs, sex, whatever.
For others it's running from anxiety, depression or behavioral disorders.
For all, the greatest joys in running aren't found in just what you're running to and it doesn't end when you finish because you never finish.

Great promo by Brooks here IMO.

Brooks shows why it’s dusting Nike in this powerful new ad starring Jeremy Renner

"I run 12 miles per day"
But why? You are fit already and not training for war. Why do you want to destroy your knees?

Same goes for the crossfit crowd. Bro you work an office job and have 3 kids. Why you out here flipping tractor tires?

I'm a Saucony guy, but great promo by Brooks. I'm not particularly fond of running, but I do it to stay healthy.

Also, those shoes look great.

He's running 12 miles a day a year after that accident in December? He broke something like 14 bones including his ankle and femur and half his ribs. I have my doubts.

"running is so bad for your knees!!" - fat guy in his mid 40s who could not run a mile and probably has worse knees from being fat

I run zero miles.

Someone else runs 12 miles a day.

We both die, I'm just well rested when I go.

I'll take not running.

Great ad. And check out Mayor of Kingstown if you are a Renner fan.

Asics have always been best for me over Brooks and Saucony.

This is why I run. It helps clear the stress out. I'm hooked on the dopamine, too. I swear when I run in the morning I walk faster the rest of the day.

I've met that guy before and he is a giant douche. He seems like the most fake person I've ever met and he is milking his accident for profit.

frick that makeup artist.

I'm always amazed at how little the general public is doing to actually take care of themselves. I hope I live to see the day when doctors are managing patients to their VO2 score instead of questionable medications and risky procedures.

That's an awesome story, and inspiring motivation from Jeremy Renner. However, frick running. I do jiu jitsu because I needed to get into shape without having to run. If you see me running, you better start running too is all I have to say, because something bad is coming behind me.

Good commercial for sure.

Depends on how you define number one. Brooks is number one in running shoe sales because they make boring comfortable shoes that people keep going back to and running stores push. Nike and Adidas still own the podiums and overall performance.

Yesterday I ran a half marathon. Today I did 3x3 deadlift at 250 lbs plus accessory lifts. Light weight but I got something in.

I couldn’t imagine being fat and even more so I couldn’t imagine being fat and making snide comments at people that work out. Miserable.
